An update from the playoffs yesterday. CAA goes 3-1. Delaware, UNH and Richmond all won. Elon was the lone loser. W&M is a 5 seed and got the bye. impressive we got 5 teams in.

Shouldn’t you expect the bottom to be worse when you add more teams? The A10, ACC, CUSA have had really weak teams at the bottom of their leagues once they grew.

I’ve been thinking about this comment the last couple days. It is something we probably all take for granted that we don’t have to deal with. have you guys seen what’s going on at New Mexico State? Google that one!!!

Nothing bad to say about Rob. Appreciate all that he’s done but this was the right move for the program. I hope he lands on his feet.

Maybe we are really good and struggle at times because we are playing a tough schedule on the road. And winning these games will make us better later in the year to prepare us for conference/tournament play.

So we beat UMass on the road by 12 and we aren’t good. Hofstra plays a worse A10 team at home and wins by 5 and we need to worry. I can’t figure out your logic. Please just be consistent

It’s not personal and it sure isn’t a quantitative conversation. It’s very qualitative. I like what Rob has done for the school along with the community and same goes for Pat. But I want the same as everyone else. I want to turn on ESPN during the FCS playoffs and see Towson there. I want to watch the opening weekend of the NCAA tournament and see Towson there just like you all do. My opinion may not be the same as everyone else’s but I believe Skerry can get us there. I no longer believe Rob can.

I’m assuming you’re referring to me. And maybe you’re right. Rob went to the National title game and didn’t capitalize off of it. I think that’s the most disappointing thing for me. Pat came into a dumpster fire and has built a quality program but hasn’t won the big one yet. Maybe I’m bias being a part of the program and seeing how bad it was vs what it is now. 2012 says it all the time. What do “we” want? Are we okay with winning 20 games in hoops but no NCAA tourney. I will say it’s nice being a winner. But at the same time football being 7-4 and not making the playoffs is similar to winning 20 with no finals appearance. I do believe if PS doesn’t make the NCAAs by the end of this contract he should be done and that’s fair. Just like it is for Rob to be gone after this contract and not being more successful.

Horrific second half. Had them on the ropes and couldn’t put them away which is disappointing. Gotta hope our first team all conference guys shoot better than 30% from the field (0-5 from 3). I hope the rotation gets deeper as the non-conference progresses. I think we’ve all agreed here, while we want this team to be successful it all comes down to conference play/conference tournament time. my biggest concern is the cohesion of the team. I hope they genuinely like each other and want to play for each other. That’s seemed to be the common theme for any “successful” team we’ve had. aside from that, a win is a win. Bigger test to see what we are made of later this week.

The fact that you’re putting Towson in the same breath as St. Mary’s is blasphemous. They are a perennial top 25 program and that league isn’t even considered a mid-major but most at this point

Tough to compare. The financial windfall from hoops helps them quite a bit I’d think.

I totally agree he needs to win in March. I also think he’s had some bad luck in those. Off the top of my head -Maybe our best team (Bennimon) was ineligible to compete -Johnny Davis gets shot - Charles Sprains his ankle in the opener last year

You realize how bad this program was prior to him coming in? I get we want to be in the tournament but there has to be a foundation to get there. Which in my opinion he’s done. Some numbers for you. We started as a D1 program in the ‘79-‘80 season. We’ve had 6 winning seasons prior to Skerry (1979-2011, 32 years). Skerry has also had 7 winning seasons in ~1/3 of the time. Only 1 of those 32 seasons we have had 20 or more wins. PS has done that 4 times. Prior to him coming in we had 16 straight losing seasons. That isn’t easy to turn around. Being on the staff for a couple years I know how hard it’s been to build a winning program with the financial disadvantages we’ve had. But we NEVER won at this rate. It’s obviously not at the level (NCAA tournament) we’d want but when we make the tournament he will be the best D1 basketball coach in school history. Maybe the best if you want to compare him to Vince.

Go ahead and bash Rob all you want he deserves it. But going after Skerry right now seems like you’re a UD fan. At least let the season start. The glass half empty crap before we even play a game is beyond annoying.

I honestly don’t really care how he does it. I just want the high level talent to keep coming in. I know a bunch of people disagree but I feel like this staff helps guys get better.
