I hate to sound superstitious, but I wish we hadn't cracked the top five -- reminds me of the lacrosse team being named No. 1 in the country, and we know what happened after that. Nova worries me more than Maine. I know it's a down year for Colgate, but VU looked really strong on both sides of the ball against them. We need another set of top performances from everyone this week.

What you hope for is that our exciting play will bring them back after halftime -- and back for subsequent games later in the season.

Trivia question: What team did Troy State beat in the 1984 Division II semifinals en route to a national championship (referenced in the ESPN piece)? That would be us. They thrashed our Kurt Beathard/Sean Murphy-led team (which had beat Norfolk State in the first round. (Only eight teams got into the tournament back then. The year before, we were loaded but lost in the first round, 24-17, to ... the Bi-zun of North Dakota State.)

Overall, we limited the turnovers, though we had a bad one in regulation that led to Md. taking a two-goal lead. In the coulda/woulda category, we missed a layup when we have a 10-8 lead -- another example of our lack of killer instinct. And I agree with Chris Datres that our final possession in regulation was piss-poor. It's like we decided we would play prevent defense with 23 seconds left rather than make a real effort to go up two and put a dagger in the Terps' heart. I blame that on the coaches.

I worry that Maryland players will be taking shots at his jaw, knowing that they can put him on the bench with a hit. Also, if it's a warm day, he could get gassed, having been sidelined for three weeks.

Anyone else tried to buy tickets online? The options are for "GAX1" and "GAX2," which I assume means general admission. But there are row and seat assignments, which doesn't sound like general admission. The key for me is to sit with Towson fans, not Terp fans.

Getting a 6 seed is very surprising. This is an interesting match-up, and we should have a big crowd. I feel bad for High Point after losing their tournament final -- they could have been a tough out, like us back in '91, '01, '17.
