Mike Locksley was a pretty good player on those bad teams at the end of Phil Albert's tenure.
-
I can't remember the name of our center on the '93 team, but I think he transferred from Hopkins. A bit undersized, he was nonetheless a big part of the line that opened holes for Vinson and McCarty and gave Crowley plenty of time to throw.

Bill Fisher, who played at Minnesota as a freshmen, transferred in at the end of the Phil Albert era. Those teams struggled, but Fisher could be a beast.

Top 10 Tight ends/Fullbacks/H-backs of all time

Sorry to hear about DC leaving; I hope he maintains his ties with the school. As for FBs, yes, Holder was tops, but I loved Tyler Wharton in 2011. He was hard-nosed and tough, but he looked like a tailback on a long TD catch and run against (I think) Colgate. -
Scott Tull was pretty good on the '93/'94 teams -- tall and rangy, he was around the QB a lot.
-
Kennesaw State's on the sked too. That'll be a first (unless we meet them in the playoffs ... if we make the playoffs).
-
I wouldn't place Jamal White that high; despite his big overall numbers, he had a number of drops in key moments -- in particular when he was wide open behind the defense (and maybe had too much time to think about making the catch and the certain TD that would follow). Not sure about his career totals, but Demetrius Harrison made a lot of difficult catches at crucial moments -- none more so than the game-ending miracle TD from Sean Schaeffer against Richmond.

Larry Jones was a powerhouse on our undefeated 1974 team. He transferred from Kansas, I think, to return home (he was a City or Poly grad). Yes, that was a D-III team, but he was a threat to score every time the ball was in his hands. (That was Dullea's sophomore year, so we were a pass-happy team; most coaches would have built their offense around Larry.) I'm glad Noah Read is on your list. Though unheralded and not big, he rarely was stopped for less than 4-5 yards. Not much breakaway speed but steady and tough-nosed. Tony Vinson's two 300-plus-yard games against Bucknell and Morgan were things of beauty. (Lesser competition than T-West's big game against Eastern Illinois, but Tony was a steam-roller with excellent speed.)

I would put Enders at No. 1, slightly ahead of Crowley (less mobility) and Flacco (less size). Schaeffer (not mobile at all) would be fourth, but I would put Beathard (small but BIG arm and quick -- able to avoid the rush) and Dullea (VERY clutch; when you needed a third-down conversion, he'd find the open receiver) ahead of the rest.

I don't see Chase Paar's brother on that list.

What does this mean? UMass is leaving CAA lax? If so, we'll need another member to keep the automatic qualifier.

MC won 7 of 21 faceoffs. Unless he gets better coaching -- and we've haven't provided that since Cantabene took the Stevenson job -- it's hard to see significant improvement next year. But that's just one of our deficiencies. The passing today was awful -- not just making ill-advised ones into the teeth of Delaware's defense, but sloppy lobs that went out of bounds or over-and-back. I have to wonder whether Nads is the right guy any longer. He's never been a fiery sort, but he just seems resigned to us being mediocre.
-
Giving the ball away too many times in the first quarter, and faceoffs continue to plague us. MC doesn't seem to be the answer.
-
Is it possible Cam changes his mind and stays?
-
Saw this game in person. This team hasn't really improved over the course of the season, IMO. Still too many ill-advised passes, flat-footed defense, inconsistent goaltending. The stats say we won more faceoffs and ground balls, but it sure didn't look that way (and certainly not for the first three quarters). I wonder if Nads' lack of a fiery coaching presence contributes.

The story on TowsonTigers.com says: Palacios becomes the fourth Towson Tiger to make the major leagues and first since Casper Wells played in MLB from 2010-13. But what about Bruce Zimmerman? I've heard all of the MASN broadcasters and the local TV stations' sports anchors mention him as a former TU pitcher.
-
Good to get the win. I think we have a decent shot at winning the CAA tournament, but it's hard to see us advancing in the NCAAs if we make it. Still too many weaknesses on this team.
-
Sad to say, but I put very little stock in RA's evaluations. Last year during summer practice he was singing Ferguson's praises, and we know how that worked out.
-
I see Jeff Miller is still on the roster (both he and TJ are listed as No. 17). Is this correct -- Jeff is back for one more year even though he's unlikely to get playing time?

WBB: Diane Richardson leaves Towson for Temple
TigerFan54 replied to mat1992's topic in Other Tiger Sports
I wonder which of our players she might welcome at Temple. I had hoped, given Coach Rich's age, that this would be her last stop. But no such luck. -
Terrible clear attempt. No sense of urgency

How many times this year have we come out early and taken a decent lead, only to squander it in the second half? Richmond, Virginia, Denver. Are other coaches adjusting and we're not countering their moves? I know the face-off losses are big part of this, but the problems go well beyond that aspect. At some point, given our three-year slide, is a coaching change needed?
-
Do we know if Charles Thompson is close to 100%?
-
That's a long list. With this summer's crop of newbies, almost half the team will be fresh faces. (Could be a good thing ... or not.)

Hens win.
