    New Gymnastics Coach

Not sure about the personal stuff. I just know she couldn’t really fill the shoes of Dick Filbert, one of the greatest coaches at the school for any sport. I assume they are underfunded compared to the P5 programs and you can’t compare our atmosphere in other sports compared to a Maryland or North Carolina. That’s why Filbert used to recruit overseas to get elite gymnasts.
  3. As I’m in the press conference, the only thing I can think of is goaltending

Heard she was suspended and not surprised she’s gone but don’t know the details.

I look at this way. If you pay $12 or 13 a month, you better not be getting horrible camera angles, no audio, cameras not following the action, etc. If that money not just goes to FLO but also helps improve the professionalism of each school's network, I'm all for it. When it was free, it's difficult to complain.
  6. Pat Spencer wants to play basketball and probably not at Loyola. The nation's top lacrosse player hasn't played since HS but has played in some summer leagues and is a great athlete at around 6-4. Sounds like he wants to go to a big-time program but who would give up a scholarship for a kid that has no real film? Why not stay local and walk-on somewhere to play right away. https://watchstadium.com/news/lacrosse-star-pat-spencer-has-one-shot-to-play-college-basketball-and-hes-taking-it-05-10-2019/

Will they take a step back next season?

Not a very good grade for that recruiting class from Inside Lacrosse but who knows. We are used to getting so few blue chip recruits. The good thing is that the top grades from IL went to our upcoming midfielders, which is our biggest need. So I see that Bender is only 5-9 but plays WR in football so must be a good athlete. I mentioned Jordan Hayes several times as a big-time need. He's 6-2, 190 but my guess is that Nads moves him to DM. Reece Potter from Michigan appears to be another outstanding athlete. https://www.livingstondaily.com/story/sports/high-school/football/2018/08/17/livingston-countys-top-football-players-5-hartlands-reece-potter/1009301002/ Guessing Zimnoch (5-11, 170) was one of the who redshirted this season along with Josh James (5-11, 153) from Colorado. Brandon Hund (6-3) has some size from New Jersey as does Patrick Anderson (6-4, 200) from Louisville of all places.

Ultimately, they need more talent on both sides of the ball. I'll explain in another thread.

    Struggling to find words

Agree about the zone. You play zone when you have faith that your goaltender can save the long shots and that your defense is struggling to either stay with more athletic middies or we are giving away too many shots at the crease. It worked early but they should have gotten out of it late. Again, you HAVE to call timeout to set up your D on that last possession just in case they get the ball. Sillah is a freshman and Koby is a sophomore. They are still kids.

Maryland edges MLax in OT, 14-13

Opening Comment from Nads (having a tough time trying to get the words out) "These are the ones that hurt the most. Just proud of our team. This senior class for what they've done the entire course of the year, not just this season but to start this fall. It was a heck of a game. Both teams made plays. I'm proud of our guys." Sunday "It's tough. Put one in with 1:50 left. Went up 13-12. Won the next face-off. I thought I probably could have done a better job of getting a better shot. We left a little too much time left on the clock. They came back and made a play. That's just how things go sometimes. Overtime. A tipped pass. They got a good look. The capitalized. It's tough. I'll miss the guys and the senior class. Nobody wants to leave after you lose. Just tough sometimes..(getting emotional). We had a great four years here. Went through it all. Final Four in 2017. A pretty terrible year in 2018. A pretty remarkable turnaround this year. This is the year I'm most proud of the way we rebounded and stuck together. This is what a true family is all about. This is a year I'll never forget. I made some great friends. I can't thank the coaches enough for allowing me to suit up and play. On last possession on whether he expected a double team (didn't really get it until he moved towards the cage. I guess I should have rephrased the question) "Yup. I assumed I was going to get a quick double. I expected it the whole year." Nads on Alex Woodall He's a warrior. He shouldn't have been out there but he chose to be out there. He wasn't going to let his senior year not end on his terms. For everything that he did for this team, he was going to do everything he did to help his team. I couldn't be more impressed with that. That young man and what he has done for himself and the program, especially this season. Nads on the year "It's impressive on what a group of men can accomplish when they put their minds to it. When they commit to it. It was this senior class from the end of last year who took it and made that commitment. Communicated to the team blow them about how it was going to go and why. They took action. I told them in the locker room that in my eight years as a head coach, I haven't been more impressed than I have been with this group. From start to finish in the fall all the way to now. To put Towson lacrosse to where we are today. Nads on streaky game Great question. It's a little bit of boxing match. We had some lulls in our play offensively and defensively and they capitalized. They created opportunities and we capitalized. Not really systematic. Just capitalizing on possessions and plays. We made some mistakes and they countered On last play I felt very confident. We preach that in terms of defense finishing the game. We know we had to make a stop at the end of the game to finish off. Unfortunately, we didn't do that. That's on us. I had all the confidence in the world that the guys were going to do it. On seniors playing pro It's a tremendous credit to these guys and the work they put in. Brendan is a guy is someone that we had high expectations and he worked hard. His best lacrosse is definitely in front of him. My biggest concern is helping these guys out at the end of school year and that they stay on track. It's a very tough time for the right now.

Maryland edges MLax in OT, 14-13

Always tough to go to a press conference when the seniors are done but to lose like this was rough, especially on Brendan Sunday. He made a remarkable improvement in his career and should be proud of an incredible senior season.

Comments John Tillman "Proud of our guys to find a way against a very good team. These are the games, it's hard to see either team lose at the end of the year. Couldn't be more impressed with Towson. As everybody is advertised. We had to battle all day. We hadn't responded well the last couple of weeks when things didn't go well. When we were down 7-3, we battled and that was huge for us."

    Struggling to find words

We're not talented enough to play reckless. We're just not. There's no right or wrong answer about protecting a lead in any sports, which is difficult. But these are 19-22 year old kids. That's why you call a timeout there. Their goaltender was playing lights out. If you take a shot with 40 seconds left and he saves it, they have plenty of time to get a game-tying shot and with the way Canto is playing, I'd say they had a very good chance. The bottom line is that Tillman guessed right. I was there in the press conference and he said we just decided not to double. At that point, you have to do something more than hold the ball and let your defense/shaky goaltender decide the game. Run a play for Sunday and if he gets doubled again, he'll dish it off. If not, shoot it. When Spiro said take a penalty, don't you think Nads and the new DC should have told them that if they had taken a timeout?

    Struggling to find words

Disagree about the last possession. You have to hold and wait for the double team. When you realize they weren’t going to double is when Nads should have used the last timeout. Of course, how the flying f-ck do you allow their best player to get a clean shot.

    MBB lands big transfer

Correct. My Towson math fails me. It's four for 2020-21 but probably five since we always lose somebody. That's why we are offering a ton and summer has not technically started yet.

    MBB lands big transfer

So looking at 2020-21 barring major changes: C Victor U., Charles Thompson PF Juwan Gray, Solomon U. SF A. Betrand SG N. Timberlake PG J. Gibson, J. Dottin So need one more for 2019-20 and four for 2020-21. Obviously need some wings.
