  1. There was a lot of national attention on this game and we came through with the W. Not pretty but it's nice to get the national attention from pundits like Jon Rothstein and Jeff Goodman and live up to it.

  3. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism without separating every type of Towson alum. We are all united, young and old, mid and semi-mid to win a title. Of course we need to play better. If we started out 2-0 last season, we would be loving life and throwing a parade. Yet our second game last season was Monmouth and a disaster. Ironically, Kante also played in that game and in this one.
  4. It's very odd. We used him a lot in pick and rolls, because we need him in the high post to screen. They pretty much took that away in the second half along with the backdoor cuts. We're going to Sylla down low and I think teams are doubling the post against CT, forcing Charles to dribble or pass it out. He's a cerebral player normally and is a good passer. At least he's not forcing it, but we're not going to him as much as I thought we would at least when Sylla is out. I think he'll figure it out because he was nearly unstoppable in the low post in February. My guess is teams know that and they will double him nearly every time.
  5. Yes, the world-famous Palestra. Never saw a game there, but broadcasted a women's game in the late nineties there. It was super old back then.
  6. Scary thing is if we can put together a complete offensive game with the way we defend and rebound, we will be annihilating a lot of teams. Expectations are high and I was super critical tonight because I know how good this team can be from watching them over the summer. I doubt that we're going to play eight players in January or February. It's going to be a gradual thing to get some of these guys playing time and I mean Conway and Christian May.
  7. Yup, after playing seven on Monday. Can we get to nine? Conway? Biekeu was sensational in the first half. Now he has to rebound (1).

    Proposed new coaches

Ok appreciate the support for Gordy because he is a great guy and was a solid coach but I think he’s happy doing color for games and living in New Jersey. Why would you want the headache of coaching and recruiting in your 70s in the NIL era? I think Gordy would be very happy if one of his former players like Bushrod got the job.

Oh forgot he also a pretty major health scare a few years ago and it’s not the healthiest profession.

Gordy is loving life in New Jersey and gets to see his grandkids play sports. Other than the fact that it would be a tough sell for a 17-year old to play for a 70-year old who was let go 14 years ago , it’s not happening

MBB edges Albany 67-62 in a sluggish opener

Nick had several wide open corner threes that he makes with his eyes closed in the first half. We should have been up by 25. But the second half was a shitshow. Eight turnovers. Two three point shots. Bad shot selection. Few extra passes. Guards not helping enough on the boards. To Albany’s credit, they moved the ball extremely well and were getting countless open shots.A lot to fix, but it’s all fixable. Sometimes being the hunted is a lot more difficult than being the Hunter.

MBB edges Albany 67-62 in a sluggish opener

Back to the comments, Skerry Opening Comment: "Give Albany credit. With Bobby Jordan filling in for Dwayne Killings. We had to earn it. I want to thank Steve and his staff. That was an excellent crowd. It's what a college basketball environment is supposed to be like. I'm really appreciative of that. With that being said, I'm glad we recruited Sekou and Nygel. If you told me coming in that Nick and Cam were going to go 2-for-17, I would definitely would have been worried. I thought they made timely threes. Will have to watch the tape. Some broken plays. Long shots. Long rebounds. We didn't do a good enough job cleaning glass. But we did do a good job of making foul shots late. We told our guys in the locker room that this is what it's going to be like every night." On rotation playing 7 "Mat, you are one of the smartest Towson people I've ever met. In Jerrelle's senior year when we won 25 games, our seventh man played 11 minutes per game. I think we have the ability to go 2-3 deeper. We're not there yet. We had them on the ropes. Maybe I should have put a couple of guys in. I make the most mistakes and I make the most decisions. I'll go home tonight and watch the tape and will try and figure out all the mistakes I made and try and get better out of it. " The rebounding "We didn't do a good enough job cleaning glass enough. Long shots, long rebounds. Some of it is guards rebounding down. What's exciting is that everyone is gong to expect us to roll over everyone. It's not going to happen. It's going to be a grind. We have holes. We have stuff we're trying to get better at. The more these types of games we have, it's going to help us in February and March." On Timberlake pressing "I think all of our guys want to play well and perform well at home in front of their peers and family, especially the competitive guys. All those guys are competitive. We'll get it right. They are playing hard. They'll be fine." On getting chippy in second half and Albany coming back "Bad play calls in that stretch where they came back. We have to clean some stuff up x's and o's wise. I do think some of that competitive juice stuff is good for our guys to lock in. That probably helped us late." On crowd helping late "It was great. I've been here awhile. I appreciate it. We've had a lot of good teams. When we have energy like that it absolutely helps. It's a credit to our administration and Steve helping to create the environment. Great opportunities coming up. Playing UMass. They have a Final Four coach. Will present a lot of challenges. A great opportunity for us.
