So basically a switch in the paint with Fulmore and Patty. That's how Hodges got matched up on the smallest Tigers with four fouls. She's a good defender so I can't stay take her out. Really need to focus on bigs next season that can switch against smaller players and just play consistently on both ends. Of course, they failed to win a chip with one of their best all-around players lin recent memory in Kylie Kornegay-Lucas.

Tough loss. This team was good enough, but I don't know if they deserved it. You can't give up a layup with 3.4 seconds left up one. That's just terrible. Can't make 2 FT to make it a 3-point lead. Played hard most of the second half but not enough in the first-half. Bigs were inconsistent all year. Need several changes.

Kyle tough shot at the end. Staton misses those FTs. Just not sure I want here at the line. I know I don't want here at the line there. I want Nelson, Agunumba or even Kylie, who was inbounding it. Then to not call the timeout when you get the steal and get the last shot of the game is bizarre to me.

Hodges scores down low with 3.4 seconds left against Abnunba. Huge mistake. Total mismatch. WTF. 69-68.

She misses both. I wonder if she should have gone to India Johnston, a great FT shooter, who wasn't in the game.

Staton to the line with 14.2 sec left. Tough situation for her.

OMG, Baker falls out of bounds and just slips against Agnunba, who has 4 fouls. Now with 15.2 seconds left. They need to get the ball in and hopefully get fouled. Try and make 2.

Now here is where I disagree with Harper's coaching. Nelson with the steal and all they had to do was to take the last shot for the win. She had 2 timeouts left. Instead Nelson misses the FT and makes the second with 18 seconds left. There was a fastbreak opportunity, but it wasn't like Kylie's who had a wide open layup. Nelson had to go one-on-one and got the blocking foul. 68-67 Towson with 18 seconds left.

Kylie with the steal and layup to tie the game with around 48.8 seconds left.

Defensive rebounding has been atrocious yet here they are, down 67-65 with 1:16 left in the game. After Agunuba just hit a 3. Can't foul this team because they don't miss at the line. Need a steal and some stops which has been a bit better in this half. Shame that the intensity and effort level in the first half wasn't there.

Back to 5 after a 3 and another backdoor wide open layup. Game over now because Towson is just hunting shots and not moving the ball.

Alright Taye Johnson! She ties it up with a offensive put back and the foul with 5:40 left in the game.

Towson has gone zone due to the foul trouble and just allowed two offensive rebounds with the 6-3 Fullmore and 6-3 Morris in the game. Still down 5. Just not willing to do what it takes to win.

Four on Staton, 3 on Nelson and Agunmba, Cut it to 2 points at one point but it's now 5 with 35 seconds left. Bigs are constantly dropping the ball, losing the ball, turning it over. It's been a problem all year with Johnson, Fulmore and Morris. Johnson struggling to defend. NOt sure why she's in but I can ask that question of weird rotations all year. At least they came up out with intensity..

So I'm trying to figure out this team all year long. Dropped passes, wide open players down low, getting killed by backdoor layups, lack of defensive rebounding and hustle. Bigs trying to dribble through traffic. Missed layups. Agunmba fouls a Drexel player 35 feet away from the basket going for a steal with 9 seconds left in the first half. Drexel is amazing from the line. Down 7, she makes 2 and Drexel leads by nine at the half. Not smart.

Drexel is scoring at ease, going backdoor a million times against the man and the zone. Last play was an obvious hook not called and Drexel will get the and 1 after the break. 28-19

Na Staton had a great game yesterday, but we're going with Mariah Wilson, a defensive specialist for more minutes than her. I've never seen a team this late in the season so confused about rotations. Yet here they are.

Well, terrible first quarter. Doesn't look like we want to be in the final. No hustle on 50-50 balls or defensive rebounds. No continuity due to a million subs. Down 18-10 in the first quarter.

Ugly-ass start. Towson needed nearly 5 minutes to score their first basket and they are winning 5-4.

    MLax Thread 2024

A few things happened in this game as Towson goes 1-0 in the CAA with this win. Final score: Towson 16-Drexel 11 *Towson went zone and late in the third quarter. Probably should have gone to it sooner, but the Dragons took advantage of their quickness against our slower defensemen and SSM Ray Glass. *Luke Downs (5 saves) had a rough day and then was injured in the fourth quarter. Took a shot to the shin. R-freshman Matt Nilan came in and made two saves. *Towson was sloppy on offense with 15 turnovers, but did cause 17. *Decent on face-offs winning 17 of 30, but Matt C. and Rocco Moreno had some big face-off wins to keep the scoring going. Webber with 5 goals and 1 assist for a career day Chop with 2 goals and 2 assists. Nick D. with 1 goal and 4 assists Mikey with a quiet day with 1g, 3 assists on 7 shots Villagomez 2 goals but I had him for at least 3 turnovers, but for some reason they had him for one. Roussel with 3 goals. So there could be a few changes after this game *Roussel has to be on the field more. Mauer had some chances at the doorstep today and couldn't knock them in. He's been productive, but Roussel is so quick and has made a huge jump in play. Problem is that they don't seem to have a guy ready to jump on the second unit with Duccomun and Gaskins. *Goaltending. It was a rough day for Downs. I don't he played that well last week, but it was Virginia. If he's injured, Nilan looks ready in a very small sample size. But if he's back and struggles again, Nads has to make the switch. Nilan is 6-2, 190. Crowds the cage. He looked confident as hell in the cage. *Defense was really poor, giving up way too many open shots. Communication shouldn't be a huge issue by now. Slides were late. Then they went zone and Drexel only scored a goal or two against it in over a quarter of play. Not saying to go zone the rest of the way. They do have to look at a couple of positions there. Maybe one on close D and Glass busts his ass, but they took advantage of his lack of size. Good win after a bad start, being down 4-1. The offense is so much different than last season, especially when they move the ball. DeMaio has taken his game to another level. Roussel is also capable of 20g, 20a. A lot of weapons and fun to watch a team put up 15+ goals every week.
