This stuff takes time????????????????? 10 years apparently is not long enough to run out of excuses. Skerry has everything he needs. Other coaches have been fired for not winning, but PS gets extensions. Why can't folks just admit that this is not a good situation for Towson basketball. Very year it is the same story, just a different excuse.

At this level, there really is only one stat that matters.....games won in March. You can beat NJIT all you want. You can beat, whoever that gteam was that nobody knows the name of that we played this year. You can beat Goucher.....none of that matters. Skerry has more resources, a better arena, more "academic" advisors, more weight training personnel and a far greater salary than Kennedy had. So to say that under Kennedy we were terrible and Skerry took us out of the abyss is a totally meaningless argument. The CAA under Kennedy also had VCU, Old Dominion, George Mason.....now the CAA is totally mediocre and he can't even win a March game against that hockey school Northeastern. We tell kids they need to be held accountable.......how about a coach making nearly a half million. As I was mocked for before, mid-majors play 30 exhibition games. Only the conference tournament matters.

I could not agree with you more. When you have the list of Mt. Rushmore of "cheating"....at least they won. The old saying is if you are going to cheat, you should at least win. As far as Skerry, I have no idea how anyone can defend his time at Towson. Every year is a new excuse as to why he fails at tournament time. You can talk about graduating and being a nice guy...supposedly... But you don't get extensions because a team has a 3.0. You don't get extensions because you are chummy with donors. You get extensions because you win important games....and we are still waiting. As far as I am concerned his years have been better than Coach Kennedy, but it total, his time has been unsuccessful. Coaches in this, a rather mediocre CAA, have been replaced after accomplishing much more. I look forward to the day that the Tigers hoist a CAA Championship trophy. I don't think it will be during the Skerry tenure.

I know you are being sarcastic, so I am actually agreeing with you that Skerry will never get it. 10 years, unearned extensions, 2-10 (maybe 2-9...not sure) in conference tournaments. Think of all the coaches that have been fired for not winning but not Skerry in the sport that is supposed to be as important as any in which to win. I don't think he is throwing darts....he is just hoping someone....anyone...will come and play at Towson for him and maybe stay here for more than a cup of coffee.

What makes them DESERVE it? AN athletic department that has financial struggles can not afford to pay significant money to play against some team that finished fourth in their conference.

Matt, Just a couple of points. 1. Winning is better than losing 2. Lacrosse and Football are different than basketball. Lacrosse and Football have a chance for at large bids, beyond Conference Championships.....basketball does not. 3. In regard to the importance of regular season vs. post season....you could not turn on ESPN during October, November and December and not hear...Lamar, lamar, lamar....changingt the face of football...the best there is....#1 team in football....BUT after a playoff loss, "The league has caught up with lamar". "He will have to change his game". It is all about playoffs...PERIOD. Nothing that ahppens before that matters. It is all fluff

you are missing the positives I have stated in regard to improvement.

You are correct between 2nd and ninth, big difference....no difference between 2nd and 6th....both avoid the play in game. It is all about playoffs in EVERY sport. How is Dan Marino remembered...the best who never won a Super Bowl. How is Philip Rivers talked about....great numbers but a failure in playoffs. In a conference where every team makes the "playoffs"...the regular season is more or less irrelevant other than alot of practice.

Exhibition or regular season, the goal is to get better every day. They were awful in the first 3 conference games, but they improved. That's good news. But it does not get you anything other than perhaps a higher seed in the only season that matters. Folks watch the Orioles in the exhibition season and want them to get better every day. If they go undefeated in their exhibition season, it makes no difference other than they got better. I am happy for many of the players that they have gotten better but we are approaching the only time it really counts.

This team is playing well during this 30some game exhibition schedule. The only games that really matter are March in DC. However, it does need to be noted that they have a chance to succeed during the "real season".

It could be worse. We could still have Tobias Howard to destroy the team from the inside!

To give him credit for doing a post game interview is laughable. That is what he is paid to do (although he did not show up after the Buffalo fiasco).....besides win.

The bottom line is either you care about sports and want to go.....or you don't. Other than giving away free stuff, which will get kids to come until they get the free stuff and then leave, there is nothing that is going to change the situation. Planning meetings, coming up with new ideas (which are really old ideas in new wrapping) and pretending we are somebody we are not are things that keep administrators busy as well as their salaries in a category that makes no sense. Maryland, with all of the money thrown at athletics, is still the same school it was in Lefty Driesell's day. With rare exception (an occasional decent football year) it is still a basketball school that has no ability to become a football power. Duke...the same way. Towson is a school, despite the demographic changes is till of the mindset of a commuter school. Sports just does not matter at Towson. THEY JUST DON'T! All of the excuses, fees, kids away during the winter break, lack of funding are all easy to point out. But, if the students cared at all, they would come....and it is their school. Not the coach's school. Not the AD's school. It is the kids school and they are telling you they barely care.

The sooner he leaves, the better....nothing but trouble. A shame the coaches did not see this earlier.

Again, as so many have stated before, it is the job of the administration to come up with ways to get folks in the stands. That is why we have so many administrators making 6 figure salaries. They just have not done their job. The fact is that it is a hard thing to do at Towson, that is getting folks in the stands. Maybe that tells you where the student body wants to prioritize or in fact deprioritize sports. Instead, we just keep paying administrators more and more to not improve the situation. Don't blame the coaches for the extensions and salaries. If an adminstrator is willing to throw these numbers out, all the coach is doing is taking it. Based on our funding and fund raising, the America East is a better fit.
