Sun article on Timberlake from Jake. Even though he’s having a bad season, he’s going to the tournament for the first time in six years. Might be a short trip if McCullar and/or Dickinson don’t play

Nice story. Cool for him to finally make it. For most college players, playing it March is the goal. (For some fans of program too!).
Yes without McCullar and Dickinson at full health, it’ll be very difficult for them To win

Mark my words now with NIL coffers. St John’s will load up this off season and be a top 10 team next year.  Really surprised Pitino not in the Big Dance considering TV money and ratings.
We are all old and have seen year after year certain teams slighted but yesterday was true insanity.  Virginia in with a net of 58.
PS- NCAA, NIT and..  any other tournament available for our Tigers to decline??  CBI CIT?  Yeah our young core of players doesn’t need the extra games cause of the Canada trip..  Think it but why say it Coach 🫣

Besides UVA, who would you replace St Johns with.  They didn't have a great OOC schedule and beat up on the weak Big East teams. They weren't good enough

All I’ve got to say is Roll Tide!!!

No way. A run for Charleston may lead to Kelsey moving on and or cougars moving to a10. That, and the money can help the conference.  Do you know Joey D can do with another unit?! The possibilities are endless with that great innovative mind. It’s been a decade since a caa win, which was a PIG.

Also love that they sent 3 of the 4 Alabama schools to Spokane. And the other to SLC

Well, Army is a service academy; Citadel is a quasi service academy and Rice probably is hamstrung by high academic standards. So you could say that from 1991 (when we last made the tournament) to now, a span of 33 years, we, along with UMES, UMKC and UNH, are the most inept programs in D1, of those who have been in D1 since 1991 or longer. (Inept in terms of getting to their conference championship game)

It also bears noting that at least 20 (give or take) of the programs you listed, who have never been to the tournament, were not even in D1 in 1991.

Additionally, your list doesn’t account for the converse-schools that have been to the tournament more recently than us, who weren’t D1 members in 1991

No issues with that! Back to back to back 19+ win seasons! 🥳🥳. Can’t expect to win them all!

He prefers to focus on the losses so it gives him a reason to complain and call for firings.

    Did they lose yesterday?  Yes.
Did they yak that game up late with questionable calls? Yes.
Did they lose back to back years to 7 seeds? Yes.
Did they make the tournament 5 years ago? Yes.
Was that appearance under this current coach? No.

I don’t know enough about this new coach but in two years she’s won a lot but has broken though.  Hopefully she does soon. I knew and liked coach Richardson, as a person and a coach. The entire suspension surrounding Laura was weird. Just want accountability and transparency in our secretive athletic department. It’s a bad look.

There was zero call for firings on those post so please keep making shit up and ignoring facts (you’re very good at that already)
Just say your ultimate goal every year for a program is a winning season. That’s what you want. Continue with that loser mentality

Nah. Ladies won the caa title not long ago and went dancing. No skerryball here

They did. But have some very bad late blow leads in the tournament since then. Lost to 7 seed back to back years.  They are building something but need to break through.

20 win season, can’t ask more than that. HANG THE BANNER

Not talking about incoming players or potential transfers. Assuming every player but Charles and Hicks is returning and yes, this list can change at the drop of a hat, but every player has eligibility left (even Chase). Without getting too stat-heavy and geeky. Just by watching every game and a handful of practices.

*Jaiden Cole. Needs to get stronger at 6-3 or 6-4, 165. Shot is a bit lofty with a lot of arc, but he's not seeing PT without at least 20 pounds added to his frame.

*Tyler Coleman. Not sure there's a lot he can work on other than his three-point shot. That would get him on the floor more or some. Has shed a lot of weight, but is limited athletically. Works hard.

*Messiah Jones. Again, has been around a long time at Wofford and Towson. His two-point numbers (48%) weren't quite as bad as I thought, but he still needs to be around 52%. Was 39% from 3 (11 of 28) so that was a pleasant surprise. Defense is worrisome at power forward because this is a four-guard league. Needs to play more center.

*Mekhi Lowery. Don't need the stats to know FT shooting and overall shot needs a lot of work. Put on about 20 pounds and needs at least 15 more so he could play 1-4. Sky is the limit with a 7-2 wingspan but may have competition in Chike Ndefo, who is supposed to be a big-time defender. Lowery could also be an all-league defender.

*Christian May. Seems so far away because of the late-season slump, but isn't that far if he can put the effort in several areas. Starts with his handle. If he's going to play the 2, he has to handle the ball better. Needs a quicker release on jumper. That's what Timberlake did from his 3rd to 4th year. May will need to take that jump(er). Also work on the mental part. Defense is solid.

*Chase Paar. If he returns, and I'm not sure he is, but has a year left, just continue working hard on his stamina and conditioning. Who knows about knees? Had some good and bad moments this season. Hands are going to be an issue when you give him the ball down low. Probably best used against (bigger 6-9 or taller centers) and kept away from speedier squads.

*Tomiwa Sulaiman. Very similar numbers to Jones. Needs to use his body better down low. He's a tank at 6-6, 235+. Uses both hands. Needs to rebound better defensively. Defense wasn't bad but again, maybe play him some at center so he doesn't have to guard quicker players on perimeter.

*Nendah Tarke. Not sure that he's going to change a lot in his fifth season. Better three-point shooter? Maybe needs to get a little more sleeker to get faster and more dynamic. That would also help defensively, where he was good but sometimes struggled against quicker guards. He can give about 5 of his pounds to Cole or Lowery. Like to see him drive and dish instead of just drive. To his credit, improved his FT shooting by about 10% from last season

*Tyler Tejada. Improve Defense. Could also rebound better and it's time to move him to power forward with a few additional pounds. He's going to be the focal point of the offense next season and defenses will be focused on him. Has to know when to shoot and when to dish it. Stick with the three-point shot if it's there. Tends to overthink and then pump fake and drive. If he takes another step or two, this team could be very good and well, he could be gone. Which is fine.

*Dylan Williamson. Improve defense. Play like you did in the CAA Tournament. Averaged 15 points in three games. Take care of the ball and make better decisions down the stretch, but could be really good if he takes another step this offseason (FT shooting, 3pt shooting, lefty drive). Probably best freshman point guard since Jerome Hairston (that didn't end well).

I’m assuming you meant 62% for Jones as he shot 52% from 2.  Tarke needs to play more consistent and actually make layups and actually pass the ball. Mays defense was ok, he seemed very slow the last month.

    on everyone’s wish list… a new coach!

Towson womens team about to upset Charleston here. Up 8 with 3:30 left and wow look at that. Laura Harper is a very component coach. If she can take us to an NCAA appearance, I think like our previous coach getting taken by Temple, she moves on.

She should. That’s the goal for mid majors and mid major coaches.   Monmouth losing helps us tomorrow

He’s had some solid recruits recently and we get Watson healthy for the 2024-2025 season.  I just think with his overall deficiency in development of players and X’s/O’s we need to add an assistant coach of some sorts and land a big time front court transfer or we may dip into the bottom of the CAA next season as the rest of bunch will be better.

They could be 4 and 5 stars and he would still f it up. 58 points ain’t winning you games in march.
Idk Hofstra is gonna lose a lot, ne may have new coach and have been bad for a few years. Wm and Hampton new coaches.  Drexel losing a lot.  Stony Brook had a ton, like 6 of their top 7 as grad students. Elon will be better. Uncw will be uncw.  And Charleston well, they lose next to nothing. That core is full of juniors.
Obviously with portal is yet to be seen. But if I can bet 50k on us not making to the finals, we can get closer to getting this coach packing!

so who was the moment too big for?

If you watched, looked to be everyone. Deer in a headlight look for everyone on Towson's side. It almost seemed as a "Shit we shouldn't be in this position and we didn't plan for it! What now?!"   Stall ball, not attacking or even getting shots off, airballing a shot, Charles picking up the 5th foul, all proved detrimental.  To be fair, Charleston made some winning plays at the end. It wasn't just us throwing up all over ourselves, but a large portion of it was.

that 2016 Maryland game just kills me - up 13 in the second half. talk about what could have been a program changing win.  I was at the game and I remember Maryland had to call a timeout in the first half and all the Towson fans spread out in Comcast stood up and got loud. It was awesome, we had so many fans there and to see all the twerp fans losing their minds 😁.... then we proceed to blow it.

the color guy during the CofC game still it super well - playing not to lose vs playing to win. we play not to lose and thus do most of the time.

bay area said it in the other thread: we have alums that want to believe and turn on, go to, the big games. You see it when we play power 5 schools in MBB and FB; when we made the FB championship game, the CAA tournament. People post pictures of their TVs along the lines of 'here we go' and what Towson goes full Towson and chokes. At some point give the alumni base something to cheer about, something to remember, something to talk about new since 1991.

Same. camelo thimble went to the line like 27 times the second half. Stripes weren’t letting us leave with a win

Lady selling beer at the cart said “you’ll need a lot of these today” and chuckled looking at my hoodie and hat. Went back right before half and she looked like she saw a ghost

I can only hope that whoever runs our collective is given a list of prospective donors to reach out to. Maybe there are some donors who voluntarily give, but we should aggressively pursue alums, particularly those who are well heeled

Looks like Pure Raw Juice, is now sponsoring some of the men's and women's players.

  13. Avert your eyes Tigers Fans (at least to the ones that don't already have their heads in the sand about this program). Had some extra time in the office today and did some stat digging.  Some of these are depressing and mind numbing.

There have been some nice comeback wins along the way, and I am sure the Pat supporters will post them (Hope you do!), but this is about the blown leads, close losses, almost had it, and what should have been.

From the last few regular seasons.  ^^ (because we can't do asterisks on here!)  is the highest % in the second half, not always at time of biggest lead.

CAA Tournament Losses (All 11)  ^^ (Again no asterisks here!) Does Not Include 2020/2021 COVID Game. That was a blow out the entire game.

In our CAAT Games since Benimon we have scored:

    56, 66, 67, 86, 72, 68, 56, 48, 62, 73, 66, 59, 82, 60, 69^    ^OT game, 62 in Regulation.  More games under 57 then over 81... We can have the best defense around, but with scoring numbers like those, you aren't going to win multiple games many times.
