They wasted no time in going out and getting 2 D1 double digit scorers. Meanwhile, though it’s still early in the process, crickets 🦗 from us. Honestly, it’s still unclear whether we even have any roster spots open. A handful of players (no need to name them again) who should be moved on to open space, but not a word that anything has actually happened

3 outlier examples out of hundreds upon hundreds of coaches. Good things might come to an extremely small (see microscopic) group of coaches, but, with all due respect, that argument is weak tea. If you want to settle for 6-12 in the conference tournament, without ever having played in the title tournament game, god bless you. I’ve let the man work and support the F’ing team with yearly season tickets, TAF and NIL donor. If this is his best, his best ain’t good enough. Good grief. “Good things come to those who wait”? That’s the defense of this guy? If I wait much longer, I’ll be watching from behind the pearly gates (I hope) When does this ceaseless argument, from his small handful of supporters, about Pat Kennedy, have an expiration date!!! Unbelievable

This should be the natural evolution of things. Young up and comer has success at a mid-major, which he parlays into bigger job, but leaves the mid-major in a position to sustain success with a replacement up and comer. Somehow, this recipe didn’t work with Skerry. No coach who’s never even been to his conference tournament final should be entering year 14 at the same school, but I’m beating a dead horse here

Well, it’s time for him to get an overseas contract
-
I think the Nick Timberlake era in Lawrence KS is just about over
-
In fairness, it might have something to do with the uber talented Bama squad

Now I know you’re trippin

Is there a 3rd choice?
-
Maybe. Only a 38% overall from the field, but a great FT shooter. 3 APG. Small, I’ll assume he’s quick. I’m guessing he’s in the portal?

Dubar, not Dubai
-
So, with UD’s Jayre Davis entering the portal, 5 of the 10 players who comprised the CAA 1st & 2nd teams are gone: Tyler Thomas and Xander Rice have exhausted their eligibility, while Davis, Dubai and Amari Williams have all entered the portal. Maybe more dominoes to fall, going forward?
-
Dubar is going to get huge bucks on the open market. Hofstra losing Thomas (I think he’s out of eligibility) and Dubar. You would think that’s a big deal, but knowing Hofstra, they’ll just reload with a couple more 20ppg guys

All I’ve got to say is Roll Tide!!!

Well, Army is a service academy; Citadel is a quasi service academy and Rice probably is hamstrung by high academic standards. So you could say that from 1991 (when we last made the tournament) to now, a span of 33 years, we, along with UMES, UMKC and UNH, are the most inept programs in D1, of those who have been in D1 since 1991 or longer. (Inept in terms of getting to their conference championship game) It also bears noting that at least 20 (give or take) of the programs you listed, who have never been to the tournament, were not even in D1 in 1991. Additionally, your list doesn’t account for the converse-schools that have been to the tournament more recently than us, who weren’t D1 members in 1991
-
1st off, thanks for taking the time to do this research. Now, if I understand it correctly, there are only 8 D1 programs (Army, Citadel, Columbia, Dartmouth, UMKC, UMES, NH, Rice) who were D1 the last time we went to the tournament, and either have never been to the tournament or have a longer tournament drought than us, coupled with not having been to their respective conference championship game since the last time we were in one?
-
You obviously picked up on my less than subtle hint for someone, other than me, to do that research 😆
-
The last time Duquesne went, Norm Nixon was playing for them and Richard Nixon had only been out of the White House for about 2-3 years. Be interesting to know how many of those 59 have been to the Tournament, but have a longer drought than us. As to the schools that have never been, I’m going to assume a number of them joined D1 subsequently to the last time we were in the tournament

Good grief, this is depressing. Now my case of Skerry Derangement Syndrome is acute. The only cure would be a new coach. I’m doomed

MBB falters down the stretch, falls to No. 1 Charleston in semifinals 61-56

I’m not sure he’s going to make any changes, unless mandated to do so by the AD. Having said that, maybe he does it on his own, understanding that it might be in his own best interests, in terms of his desire for a lifetime contract -

You scared her one night; Skerry has horrified us in the conference tournament for 12 years. All things considered, you’ve gotten the worst end of the deal -
Add another team in the CAA that’s now made it to the conference finals. And they’re only in their 2nd year in the conference. Makes our loss tonight even more galling, as we would not have had to play Hofstra in the finals
-
Kelsey should give half his salary to Skerry. After all, he couldn’t have done it without a big assist from Skerry
-
If I were the SB coach, I wouldn’t call Skerry for any tips on how to close out the game
-
Don’t you have him on speed dial?😆
-
I can only hope that whoever runs our collective is given a list of prospective donors to reach out to. Maybe there are some donors who voluntarily give, but we should aggressively pursue alums, particularly those who are well heeled
