The way Betrand played the other night, & assuming Timberlake comes back soon, Howard’s minutes would be decreased in any event.

Bryn Athyn played Drexel last year. The final score...Drexel won 118-41. Tobias Howard is the player who’s image is featured on the season ticket holders tickets for tonight’s game

Gray, Betrand lead shorthanded Tigers over GW, 72-58 (story)

I actually had some students (at least I think they were students) who were in my seats before I arrived. They just slid down to some empty seats to my left. So, it’s possible not all the students were seated behind the 1 basket. Also, what was that thing some of the students had behind the GW goal in the 2nd half? Was it a shower curtain? I couldn’t quite make out what it was, but they seemed to having a good time. We need more students like that at the games -

Actually, I thought the attendance, by our standards, wasn’t bad for a Tuesday night. I think it was announced at 2,000. I was there, and the bottom bowl level was fairly well populated & the atmosphere was pretty good, especially after a few of our dunks -

Lots of positives tonight. I thought the PG play was really good-think they had 7 assists combined, with few if any TO’s. Gibson was Mr. outside, draining three 3’s, Dottin was Mr. inside, scoring on a couple of drives to the basket. The game was not too big for Gibson at all, & I think he held his own on D. Loved Gray’s game. Nice combo of athleticism and ability to hit the 3. He seemed to have a really good court sense. Betrand was impressive. When I saw the team practice back during the summer, my takeaway was that Betrand might be poised to make a big improvement from his freshman to sophomore year. For 1 night at least, I was right. Typical Tunstall game-7 boards and a couple baskets for good measure, including 2 dunks. Thompson missed some good close looks at the rim, but will only get better. 6 boards & 6 points is fine with me. Nice to have the luxury of a double digit W when Fobbs only scores 12 points, though I think he had 5 assists & 5 boards. Was surprised Solomon U. was a non-factor tonight. When Sanders & Timberlake come back, we’ll have a nice 10-man rotation. Neither were on crutches or in a walking boot, so hopefully they’ll both be back sooner than later. Overall, an intriguing combination of size, athleticism (4 dunks tonight, that I recall) and a few guys (Gray, Fobbs, Gibson, Betrand & hopefully Timberlake) who can shoot the 3. Howard was not in uniform or on the bench in street clothes = more minutes & opportunities for Betrand & Howard going forward -
Rumor is he’s been booted off the team
-
When I see him on the court, I’ll believe it
-
Next it’ll be before 4th of July. Same as it ever was
-
This is really frustrating. I know injuries can’t be controlled, but frustrating nonetheless
-
Do you believe this? Haven’t even tipped off the season opener & 2 key players in street clothes
-
Hearing he might be back in time for the tournament in Charleston. We’ll see

It’s a de facto elimination game for both us & them, much as this past Saturday was
-
Nova can pick their score in that game. Hopefully, it won’t carry much weight with the selection committee, especially if Richmond & Delaware can manage to beat them
-
The loser of Richmond v Nova next Saturday could be in peril of not making the playoffs. If Nova loses, they have a cupcake game the following week v winless Long Island U, after which they close the season v Delaware. We should also root for JMU to beat UNH next Saturday, and beat them bad. Of course, none of this matters, if we don’t take care of our own business
-
It’s JMU and the field. I’d say Elon, Delaware, Maine, W&M, & URI are the only teams out of the playoff picture. The loser of TU v SB next Saturday can be added to that list. Albany & Richmond probably don’t have much margin for error. Don’t look now, but Nova has lost 3 in a row

Smith, Flacco lead No. 21 Tigers over Delaware, 31-24
TSU88 replied to mat1992's topic in Football Talk
Delaware win was very good & very necessary. Question now becomes can we steal a W on the road vs SB, who will be equally desperate as us for a W. What’s Stony Brook’s offense like? For that matter, what about their D? -

TU2012, your last post reminded me of something. I’m a donor to the TAF. I have it set up as a monthly debit from my bank card. Several months ago I canceled that bank card, due to an identity theft concern. Now that I think about it, no one from TU has called me to say, “hey, we noticed your card isn’t processing anymore, do you want to switch to a new card?” I think this is symptomatic of a larger problem. -

Always satisfying to beat Delaware. Also an important W, in that it staved off playoff elimination and sets up another elimination game next week vs Stony Brook. Great coming out party for Caleb Smith. Glad he’s only a junior. Flacco was outstanding. 3 fumbles was bad, fortunately didn’t cost us the game (I’m thinking Delaware only turned 1 of the 3 into points). There QB is dynamic; he almost made a phenomenal play at the end, but fortunately started his slide a bit too soon. Our D struggles mightily with getting off the field on 3rd & 4th down, especially when it’s 3rd & long. Attendance was awful-little over 5K on a glorious fall day. -
ANOTHER FALL BARBECUE -- TOWSON 31, CHICKENS 24
TSU88 replied to Chris Datres's topic in Football Talk
It would be inconceivable that we wouldn’t make playoffs at 8-4, assuming we get to 8-4. I haven’t done the research, but I’m highly skeptical there’s any precedent for an 8-win team not getting in. The problem with Richmond & UNH winning is that it might eliminate any remote chance we have of getting in at 7-5. Much as today’s game was a playoff elimination game, so too will be next Saturday’s game vs Stony Brook. -
About Flacco, not Moon I repeat, I’m not denigrating TF. In fact, I hope he makes it in the NFL. Would be great for him & possibly our program. Totally agree QB’s in the NFL don’t have to be 6’4 with a cannon arm. I already acknowledged TF will go to camp with a team. Just curious why you can’t acknowledge in turn that his skill set might play well in the CFL
-
We’ll have to agree to disagree. ”Doug Flutie, please report to the white courtesy phone.”
-
Saying he might be suited to the CFL isn’t denigrating his game. It’s simply a recognition that his running abilities, on a wider field, might be an attractive commodity. Several former CFL QB’s have migrated south an found success in the NFL. “Warren Moon, please report to the White courtesy phone.”
-
He’ll definitely go to camp with a team, it’s more a question of will he be drafted or go as an UDFA? If I had to guess, I’d guess the latter. Analytics would suggest that an FCS QB who isn’t very tall and doesn’t have a cannon for an arm is more likely to be an UDFA. Of course, it only takes 1 team to take a late round flier on him. I wonder if his game might be better suited to the CFL?

Agree that at 8-4, we’re a lock for the playoffs. 7-5, iffy, at best. This Saturday is essentially a playoff elimination game, as the loser will have 5 losses. Hoping for a W. Even with a win though, the road to 8-4 would still have to go through a trip to Stony Brook & a home game vs Elon (and a road game vs W&M). Have we beaten these teams in previous seasons, yes. Will we beat all 3 this season...🤷♂️
