Baseball is now 3-24

Recommended Posts

Except for a few close games, we've been overmatched every time out. I know the new coach is just in his second year, but we're even worse in 2019 than in '18, and that wasn't a very good team either. Is there reason to be hopeful?

Give him a couple of years to get his recruits in. I think for him to become more competitive, either you have to wait a few years for his young players to get better or you start getting some transfers.

Not to pile on, but whats up with Womens Lax and Softball?  Those are two teams that are usually solid to very good.  Not a strong spring so far.

Noticed women's lax - having a really tough year from starting out being ranked

Softball seems to be all about pitching -- JMU has it in spades -- and we lost our only bona fide star when Meghan Diejter graduated last year. WLax is more of a mystery. We have a good coach and two of the top players in the league returned from last year's playoff team, but the season has been an utter flop.

And we kept baseball around for what?  The team has few scholarships and just like men's swimming and men's golf, is a filler sport while all of the men's sports $$$ gets sucked up by football, basketball and lacrosse. 3 up, 3 down.  You could have the greatest coach in college baseball history but without scholarship support Towson Baseball will be a consistent loser.

Well, at least baseball won a series from a bad Hofstra team. In all honesty, I thought men's soccer should have been kept. It was a more successful program and had a better history. But baseball had more political power. It's very tough for them to compete with so few scholarships. The crappy weather doesn't help.
