I agree with the Villanova comparison except for 2 things. Why can't we get better in basketball. There are great players around us. Should we settle for middle of the pack Skerry forever?

Vilianova has about 9,000-10,000 students and we have 23,000 but we draw the same amount for football? The commuter excuse no longer exist with our 12,000 residential students.

Still believe our administration is not promoting sports enough for basketball and football. 1,500 students-2,500 students for Delaware and Homecoming ?

Villanova has Howie Long. They have a National title and much richer tradition. There’s no comparison. They also don’t draw great for football but they care much more about hoops.

Basketball is different. The student crowd for GW was awful. All the freebies they are giving out for a D3 game should have been for the opener.

We should decide if we want Skerry soon for the long run He is 67-57 In the CAA the last 7 years excluding his first year.  Took over an awful team his first year.

How long do you keep a coach than cannot make the NCAA or NIT. Worth taking a chance on someone else soon if no NCAA the next few years. Got to take a risk in hopes of making a big in basketball.

Maryland is in the same boat with Turgeon. He has to make the sweet 16 this year in my opnion to extend his contract.

It’s not relevant right now due to the length of the deal.

Villanova also doesn't have tailgating and their stadium isn't great for a game. They are also on a game average outdrawing us by 1,100 this year, with Lehigh, Maine, and SB as their opponents.

The "Major Sports" city excuse should not exist either.  Who was playing Tuesday night in Baltimore where we only drew 2000 and a handful of students?  The turtles in CP? sure but who is driving 1.5 hours in rush hour traffic to see Maryland holy cross.

Oct 12, a beautiful fall day, what was the excuse that day for only 4700 people for the Albany game?? Little turtles?  Played at noon in West Lafayette IN.  Navy?  Played at 7:30 in Tulsa, OK.  Orioles in the playoffs? HA HA.  Ravens played the next day against the Bengals.    Also, Morgan also played that day, down the road against Del State and drew 4000+ more than we did. EMBARRASSING

Yes. It's sad Villanova is outdrawing us for football. They are a little bigger school than Loyola of Maryland. Only 9,000 students.

Really have to blame it on Towson's athletic department and administration. A realistic crowd for Towson homecoming/Delaware game should be 10,000-15,000. .

They don’t have tailgating? Huh? Is that a new rule?

Uh yes. Pretty much they have extremely limited tailgating for select few donors and no real lots open for students and visiting fans.  The last 2 years I have gone up and was told there is nothing (ended up going to bar/restaurant up the road pregame), and other CAA, Delaware and JMU fans to name a few have the same gripes.

I had brought this up in a thread a year or so ago and I think it deserves repeating.  I look at a school like Grand Canyon.  It's located in the middle of Phoenix, which is a hotbed of major league sports not to mention having Arizona State right down the street, and numerous other nightlife opportunities.  Last year, they averaged almost 7200 fans for a school that has 20,000 on campus.  They've only been D-1 for 6-7 years and yet, they've immediately built it into numerous sellouts and that's with playing a WAC (not whack/wack/whatever) schedule.  So I'd say that our people should be taking a field trip to Phoenix (it's nice this time of year) and pick the brains of the GCU people and find out how they can attract such a large amount of people to their games.
