Makhtar Gueye transferring to Towson

Recommended Posts

we are going to have the tallest team in the CAA.  Once again though, we might be exposed at the guard level.  Remember when Kris Walden logged a zillion minutes as a freshman, only to end up transferring to smaller programs with zero minutes?  That was because we had no guards on the roster....

Does this guy play right away?  Looked at his stats, he likes to hoist 3s...If he can make them, imagine a 6 10 guy spreading the floor.

Thank god we have Gibson and Dottin, but that's not enough.   Is there anyone else that will handle the ball?

He'll need a waiver to play since he didn't graduate in three years. We added Allen, the grad transfer, who will definitely help Gibson in the backcourt. He can take pressure off of Gibby and allow him to play some wing. Both are good shooters. Agree, that the two and three are the biggest question marks now. Curtis Holland will also need a waiver to play, so if he's not eligible, we have Timberlake, Darrick Jones Jr., Gibson. Allen and Dottin in the backcourt. Mims, Jones and Gray as options at the 3. I think Gray will swing from the 3 and 4. A lot depends on which transfer becomes eligible.

Guard play wins. A player that can take over the game and get his own shot. It’s been 12 years and we still haven’t figured that out yet

True to an extent, which is why we added Holland and Allen. Gibson should take a big jump this year and hopefully Timberlake does as well. Mims is the x-factor. I would have preferred another wing who can score, but beggars can't be choosers.

You want G’s? If Holland gets a waiver we’ve got him (double digit scorer last season); Allen (grad transfer who avg 9ppg last season); Gibson, Timberlake and Jones (the uber athletic freshman from Oak Hill). That’s not a bad quintet.

I’ll be the 1st to say there are a ton of unanswered questions about this team. I don’t look at things through TU colored glasses, but this team has the potential to be at or near the top of the CAA, IF Holland & Gueye both get waivers to play this fall. Throw in Allen, Gibson, Timberlake (hopefully he steps his game up some), Mims (an unknown commodity, I concede), Jones (also an unknown commodity), Gray, Thompson, Victor U (also an unknown commodity, but maybe he’ll be a force on D) & his brother Solomon & I don’t see anything wrong with having guarded optimism
