State of Towson Athletics Briefing Set for June 18

Recommended Posts

"Tim, why do you settle for mediocrity in men's hoops and football? "

"Tim, why are you and your department awful at advertising/marketing?"

"Tim, what if any sports can we cut?"

Which sports do you want to cut? I am not certain if the NCAA has allowed the minimum number to be lowered, but if not, we have the minimum number of men's sports allowed and we still have to be Title IX compliant. That makes it very difficult.

Besides football until there is a new coach 😉😂, I don’t know. But money is going to be a much bigger problem. Other schools are starting to and we are at the bare bones of 6 already

That's the right statement at this time. Feel like there will be some changes/cancellations as the school year goes along.

Good to hear, that people won't be laid off/furloughed.

Thought it was pretty informative. I’m sure there were hundreds of questions they didn’t get to and DC said they would try and answer them at another time.

A lot of stuff about safety and testing as expected.

TL expects the football season to be played on time. Tailgating should be back maybe in a safer format, assuming some fans are allowed. But they have to follow the guidelines of the NCAA, the school and the state.

So, essentially, they will release the video of this at some point next week. They did record it and it went a little bit over an hour. Dan Crowley moderated it, Coach Richardson was on there along with Nathan Wilder (medicine), Terry Porter (compliance) and TL.

i'm not seeing football played with fans in 2020 at our level. no reason to risk it.

Risk what. It’s a lot riskier playing football and our fans normally practice social distancing.

Obviously half joking but Crowley made a good point on the video. Maryland is in a pretty good spot right now with restaurants and malls open a half capacity. If it continues to improve by September, I can see fans being allowed because it’s outside.
