WBB General Thread 2021-22

Recommended Posts

I commented on the wrong thread ho wI thought we were getting too selfish. Our guards were just driving downhill, which is fine, but trying to score or get fouled. Nobody else was touching the ball other than Nelson or Korngay-Lucas. Good adjustment by the coaches in the fourth quarter as team ball helped and Rivera got red-hot. Then Kubek, who had a rough game (3-8 FT) hit a three. Nelson got it going some. But it was team ball and Rivera who helped get this team over the hump. Can't play like that against Delaware or it will be over quickly. But they can be beaten.

Just looking at the numbers. Amazing we won with Nelson going 3-for-19, Williams going 0-for-4 and Kubek going 2-for-9 and 3-for-8 from the line. Shot just 27% from the field. But held NE to 28% shooting. Good D can prevail when you are having a rough shooting night. But that can't happen on Saturday.

Well, it was a fun season. I guess there is some women's CIT or CBI option. But this was a great season considering how brought it was last season with COVID and that the best player in the history of the program Melo Jeter decided to go pro.

Allie Kubek (third-team All-CAA)

Aleah Nelson (first-team All-CAA)

Taryyionna Gary (36% 3pt)

Kyle Kornegay-Lucas (Sixth Man of the Year)

Rayne Tucker (JMU transfer, 6.4ppg, 5.5rpg)

Anissa Rivera (10.5ppg, 7.2rpg)

Gary and Kubek are sophomores, meaning they basically have three more years left since last season didn't count and Kornegay-Lucas is a redshirt sophomore, which means she has two seasons after this one.

Tucker was supposed to be the big impact transfer from JMU and he was slow to return from an ACL injury and then she struggled with an ankle injury. The problem there was a lack of depth at the post. Rivera is more of a wing because she's on the thin side. Delaware took her down low several times, so could use another post at least 6-2.  At 6-3, Quinzia Fulmore showed some promise and should improve steadily from her freshman season. Two freshmen wings are coming in so if they have any ships left, assuming they'll be looking at a post.
