Timberlake leads MBB to 78-68 win at Hofstra

Nicolas Timberlake scored 26 points, including 17 in the first half on perfect shooting from the field to lead Towson over Hofstra 78-68 from Hempstead on Thursday night. The Tigers had a 10-point lead at the half, but then lost it at the start of the second half, but they regained the lead towards the midway point and never let it go. Charles Thompson had another big game with 16 points, six boards and four assists.

Towson shot 61% from the field and 8-of-15 from three-point range, including an 8-of-11 mark in the first half. They also outrebounded the Pride by 10 led by Cam Holden (10) and Timberlake (8). The Tigers also had 21 assists led Timberlake's six, but did turn the ball over 18 times. Towson made 20 of 27 from the line (74%) led by Juwan Gray, who went 7-of-7.

"TImberlake carried us. Was sensational esp. in the first half. They are a hard team to stop. We were good on the glass. We're playing hard. Juwan stepped up. Charles...two dunks he had tonight. HIcks gave us 17 minutes. Good defense. No turnovers.

Gutty effort after blowing a 12 point lead. First half shooting was unreal.  Didn’t foul much which helped. 
 

this is the second best team that we’ve play on the road all year and 3rd best overall

21 assists on 25 buckets; 5 guys with 3 or more assists. Unreal. I wasn’t optimistic going into this one, but glad I was wrong. UNCW lost tonight, so rumors of their coronation may have been premature.

The emergence of CT as a scoring threat is a great story. And hats off to Timberlake for stepping up his offensive game this season as well

Pretty good effort by a team playing for 2nd and going into a house of horrors.

8 true road wins this season and another situation where a previous team would have folded up the tents after Hofstra made that run at the beginning of the 2nd half.  Hopefully Nolan will be back real soon and Cam can either fully heal or get a more comfortable mask.  In the meantime, Hicks stepped up again and gave solid minutes and it seemed like these guys really needed those days off.  That first half they seemed incredibly fresh and they got back to moving the ball on offense the way they had been doing.  Now let's take care of the bottom feeder in Boston on Saturday and keep this bus rolling.

Great call.  CT's maturity on that end of the floor in the last few games makes everyone have to respect him and leaves just enough room for our shooters to get a cleaner look.  He's also done a hell of a job being more disciplined at both ends of the floor in not racking up the moving screens and not getting lost when he hedges out on ballhandlers.  We need to keep establishing him against these smaller teams, especially UNCW when we see them again.
