Top 10 small forwards

Recommended Posts

Once again, Division I-only. There were some tremendous D2 guys that played for Vince Angotti that are HOFers including the late Bobby Washington, Pat McKinley, etc.

1)Chuck Lightening (1989-92). Three-year player. Avg. 14.3ppg, 4.9rpg, 1.5spg on 47% shooting. Avg. 16.1ppg and 6.3rpg in his junior season and 18.6ppg in his senior season earning All-ECC twice. Scored 26 points in loss to Ohio State in the NCAA Tournament in 1991. Earned CBS Player of the Game. Big-time finisher. Clutch performer in big games. HOFer.

2)Ralph Biggs (1994-98). Another HOFer. At 6-6, 160 pounds, did not have the frame of Lightening (6-5, 215), but was a great leaper and very good shooter. Should have played more early on. Came off the bench in his first two seasons, which explains why he only averaged 12.5ppg for his career. Avg. over 18ppg his last two seasons and shot 53.4% for his career. Also shot 40% from three-point range.

3)Brian Fobbs (2018-20). Juco transfer who had an excellent two seasons. Powerful lefty who could get to the line. Avg. 16.9ppg and 5.4 RPG. Had a bit better junior season when he shot 45% from the floor and 37% from beyond the arc. His three-point shooting went down a bit in his senior season (34%). Over 80% FT shooter. Second-team All-CAA player twice.

4)Kelly Williamson (1988-90). Xavier transfer who averaged 10.8ppg and 5.3rpg. Smooth lefty who shot 46% from the field. Helped win the ECC title in 1990. Could have scored more, but was playing with Kurk Lee and Devin Boyd, so he was the third option.

5)Sam Sutton (2000-02). Talented and athletic transfer from St. Francis (PA). York native who was one of the best defensive wings to ever play at Towson. Avg. 13.1, 1.6spg and 6.2 rebounds in two seasons. Team took some lumps back then in first season in CAA, but Sutton was one of the few bright spots.
