2022 General Football News

Recommended Posts

Seems like eventually it's all going to go back to the pre D1AA/FCS when there was just major and small college football. Teams like W&M, Davidson, Villanova, etc. were in the 'big' league.

Need to applaud the initiative. But those are some bad teams even on fcs standards.

There are about 5 teams that realistically could move up and compete still left in the fcs. The rest are all middling at best. If all fcs teams try and move up to fcs (which will just be p5 soon) then isn’t that like raising the minimum wage to $15?? They would all be in the same situation as before.  I guess with the “higher” classification these schools can pimp out their football programs for 750k-1 million a game rather than 250-400. Is the additional staff, scholarships, travel expanses worth it for the extra 500k?

**this isn’t a dig at fcs football or Towson. I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer at this point, more questions **

This should be a wake-up call for teams like TU, Deleware, Nova, Elon, Stonybrook...That the CAA does nothing for us with the additions of Hampton, Monmouth etc. These schools can't go up and support 85 scholoarships. Monmouth has a 4500 seat stadium with no lights. And can never add lights....

It's time for the CAA haves to brake away and forma a new Division 1 conf just like the ASUN-WAC. As the reasons listed by them, should be the same we go for it.

Here they are:

The reasoning for the new league is, according to sources, "greater certainty in scheduling and recruiting" and a clear pathway to the highest levels of college football. Also, the schools expect increased revenue through a more lucrative broadcast contract and increased guarantee-game revenue because the games would count toward bowl eligibility if they became an FBS league.

Time to get off our A$% and do something.

Did fbs lower their standards for admission? It used to be 20k stadium and an attendance criteria?
If so, and we move up (ha) where is the new stadium going to be built?

Don't think 20K is the number these days and regardless, none of that is being enforced. At all. (Not a criticism, just pointing out.)

There are only 2 schools in all of FBS with under 20,000 capacity:

Charlotte - 15,314

UMass - 17,000

Everyone else is 20k and up.

Charlotte is expandable.  Ok so where is this stadium going to be built? Hereford? Hartford county?  Can’t be anywhere close to campus.

Been a while since I’ve been back to Johnny U. but couldn’t a creative architecture design group find a way to squeeze in a few extra thousand seats in both end zones if needed? Make it a complete bowl?
