If you don’t think the AD has a few guys pegged from his ties at previous stops I think you’re kidding yourselves.

I'm already working on my list of possible coaching replacements for Pat Skerry for when he leads us to another stink-bomb performance in the CAA Tournament.  Stay tuned....

Go ahead and bash Rob all you want he deserves it. But going after Skerry right now seems like you’re a UD fan. At least let the season start. The glass half empty crap before we even play a game is beyond annoying.

I guess the Pat Skerry sample size isn't quite big enough for you?  How many more seasons should he get to finally get over the hump?  Honest question.

I'm sure we could collectively come up with a pretty extensive list of coaching names that we'd like to see at Towson, in the event the Ambrose era comes to an end......eventually.

Some of those names will be wishful thinking as I don't know that our recent history or our budget will allow for a well-established/accomplished veteran coach to come in and save the day.

I found two names that could be interesting.  One, a very young guy with ties to some successful programs and the other, a proven veteran coach at the DII level.

The first is Rick Bowie, OC at DII powerhouse Valdosta State.  Young guy with experience on Dana Holgerson's staffs at WVU & Houston and maybe more importantly, connections with Baltimore prep school football (St. Frances & Gilman).  Obviously, he's still very young and maybe not quite enough experience but sometimes you need to roll the dice and take a chance.

Rick Bowie - Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks - Football Coaches - Valdosta State University Athletics (vstateblazers.com)

My second candidate and perhaps a longshot is Slippery Rock HC Shawn Lutz.  Dude has a .774 winning percentage as a HC in seven years.  He knows the MD/DC, PA, NJ recruiting area very well.  I would like to think Towson could find the $$ to make it enticing for him to leave Slippery Rock.

Shawn Lutz - Football Coach - Slippery Rock University Athletics (rockathletics.com)

I'm sure I'll come across some other names in the weeks ahead that could be worth considering.

Go Tigers!

There has been plenty of a sample size on both coaches. For Pat he has never been able to get it done in March and the teams have choked in the caa tournament. Pat Kennedy has more caa tournament wins at Towson than Pat Skerry, let that sink in.
This team is too talented this year and excuse time is over. Ncaa or bust.

So,  very interesting list of candidates ATiger.  However,  I’d like to have a list of candidates with D1 recruiting/coaching  experience from the DMV.  I would think that guys like Bowie would be in over their heads.  Lutz is interesting…. why him? Why not the HC from Mount Union? Experience with the transfer portal and NIL would seem to be more impactful.
As far as $ … Shawn Lutz makes $131k!  Bowie makes less than $80k.  I think our FB budget, facilities and pay are well above any HC job that these two have ever applied for!

You realize how bad this program was prior to him coming in? I get we want to be in the tournament but there has to be a foundation to get there. Which in my opinion he’s done. Some numbers for you.

We started as a D1 program in the ‘79-‘80 season. We’ve had 6 winning seasons prior to Skerry (1979-2011, 32 years).  Skerry has also had 7 winning seasons in ~1/3 of the time.

Only 1 of those 32 seasons we have had 20 or more wins. PS has done that 4 times. Prior to him coming in we had 16 straight losing seasons. That isn’t easy to turn around.

Being on the staff for a couple years I know how hard it’s been to build a winning program with the financial disadvantages we’ve had. But we NEVER won at this rate. It’s obviously not at the level (NCAA tournament) we’d want but when we make the tournament he will be the best D1 basketball coach in school history. Maybe the best if you want to compare him to Vince.

We all know how bad the programs were before the respective coaches both took over. It’s not year 2 or 3 or even 8 for them! They have had the time and some success.

Pat has won a lot in the regular season and had adjusted his coaching philosophy. But the constant failing in early March is what needs to change.

Pat Skerry is able to retain top talent which is worth its weight in gold in the transfer portal era we play in now. He’s got his guys loyal to him and that speaks volumes
