New Coach Thread

Recommended Posts

Shawn Lutz looks like a Slippery Rock lifer. 20 seasons as an assistant at SRU, going on three decades there total.

Still, he's clearly successful enough to be a notable speculative candidate. .784 career head coaching winning percentage.

Furman OC Justin Roper and his old boss at Holy Cross are similarly interesting. Chesney especially, if we're being honest. HC announced a five-year contract extension for Chesney back in February.

Maybe the AD's South Carolina ties send him looking south. Very interested to see which names surface.

Yeah, I would assume he'd look at an SEC position coach or FCS coach from the South who has a very good record. He's from PA originally and went to the University of Maryland so his roots are all over the East Coast.

GOH-  Go On Home Rob!

After this latest debacle (unh hasn’t scored this much since 2017, gainers…? Towson),  the rob Ambrose era, save for another pandemic or the last couple teams forfeiting, is FINALLY over. This bum has obviously given up and it’s well beyond time to make a change.

While he made a trip to the championship game with an world running back, that fell into his lap, he did absolutely nothing to build on that short lived success. Questionable transfers, lack and unwillingness to adjust, and keeping baby brother around a few seasons too long plagued the program the past half decade plus. While the CAA dipped as a conference so has Towson football from the “glory days” with number 28.

The question now is, where does the new AD go from here and who does he hire?!  Put forth your best candidates here. A successful D2 coach,  fcs coordinator, an alum, even the SAFE person out in the parking lot to bust your tailgate party.  There are no wrong answers (besides the few who want to keep Rob) and hiring Jared.

What a juvenile post!  *SD..I’m embarrassed for you…

Does the truth hurt Melissa?

Was the unveiling you mentioned August 2021 (prior to another poor season), meant for the unveiling of the new coach and thankful new direction of this morning program?  If so, kudos for having that foresight!

I also hear there is a P5 coordinator interested, so there goes my theory about those guys not interested in a lesser paying job.
