Looks like the Stetson QB passed for at least 250 yards every game but 1. That’s light years above what we’ve done the last few years. Maybe Stetson had a bad D

https://gohatters.com/sports/football/stats

Terrible running game (3.2ypc) and bad run D (166.5ypg allowed). Did allow about 29 points per game. Not what any of that means other than that he loves to throw.

Look, OCs are usually on a short leash. No wonder so many are at multiple stops before they finally end up either as a HC or just moving around forever.

Now let's take a bigger sample size at VMI

2018 was ugly when he just took over and they went 1-10 and allowed 52 points per game (yikes)

So they had to throw a lot and averaged 324 points per game. and rushed for just 1.8 yards per carry and 47 yards per game (getting some ML Air Raid vibes here).

In 2019, they improved to 5-7 and still allowed 38 ppg. But did score around 31ppg and improved running game to 121 ypg (3.8ypg). They threw for 287 yards per game with 20 TDs and just six INTs.

In 2017 in Northern Arizona, his offense averaged 30.25 ppg, ran for 129.8ypg (3.7ypc) and threw for 301 yards per game with 24 TDs and 8 INTs.

So, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what Sheppard's strengths have been so far (successful passing game with good TD/INT ratio) and his weaknesses (mediocre rushing game). He should be able to recruit better talent here assuming he still has his Maryland connections (speed in Balto/DMVC) but it's all about the QB as I say before every football season. Need to make a few tweaks to the Oline, but the base is here. Then I think they need to add a better receiving/move tight end and at least two receivers (one burner, one who can move the chains). Also, need a RB who can catch the ball like Shane Simpson.

Steve E. seems to be making all the right moves -- including this very inclusive approach, which adds to his workload but generates goodwill and positivity. Kudos to him.

He seems like a nice guy but he needs to win immediately. This fan base has had enough mediocrity. Pete better bring the heat!

Lol yeah right and we are going to beat Charleston Saturday 😅😅😅

Let’s see who they bring in first, especially at QB. Nothing is impossible with the portal.

Good interview. He starts talking about the QB around 10 minutes left. Sean Brown will be around in the spring

Great interview. I have high hopes for Coach Pete. He seems like such an authentic guy and plenty smart too. Couldn't ask for a better ambassador for the school and program.
