NIL Challenge

Recommended Posts

So they fired the football coach with a mediocre record. They aren making additions and renovations to the field house. Steve isn’t here to hire or keep mediocre coaches. Way too early on whether Shinnick is good, bad or mediocre.

I’m not the most optimistic person in the world, but if I didn’t have some hope for the revenue sports, I get the eff out and give this up because in 30+ years, I feel like a failure when it comes to shit like this. Trying to get people to care about Towson sports has been like pulling teeth at least on here. We HAVE to win in football and basketball. We have no other options to get people in the stands and to donate. I’ve seen pretty good signs in hoops and football has shown signs of drawing nearly a decade ago.

Heard a Dan Dickau podcast this week.   Agents are getting 20% of the NIL 💰 supposedly.   That’s robbery.

I prefer the old system, where schools paid kids under the table 😆. Seriously, NIL is a joke. Books, tuition, food and board should be sufficient. Just start a minor league for college age kids who don’t want to be bothered with getting a free ride through college. The best ones make it, the rest will just have to “settle” for free tuition, books, food and board, which btw can cost over a quarter of a million dollars, over 4 years, for those parents that aren’t fortunate enough to have a kid who gets an athletic scholarship.

If Grandpa Simpson weren’t in Shelbyville right now, I’m sure he’d agree with me

They started NIL for a good reason. Because players weren’t getting paid for their images on video games or merchandise. This is not about image or likeness. It’s about free agency

Good intentions, no doubt. Alas, good intentions don’t always equate to good results. A player should be compensated if his or her image is used on a video game or merchandise. But other than that, I think not. Doesn’t matter what I think though. The genie 🧞‍♀️ is out of the bottle. Players have had free agency for years, by the simple expedient of transferring to a different school. Anyway, I realize I’m beating a dead horse, so I’ll move on

I spotted coach Pat Skerry at Ocean Pride for lunch today. Hope he is adding crabcake sandwiches to our NIL offering. Big upgrade from bagels
