you'd be surprised I think its actually easier getting them to come to the jmu game

I remember one year the SGA had chicken wings to giveaway at the tailgate as the big draw lol I think you could get the frats to show up if the school asked them to and promised not to harass them for drinking and having a DJ

Is it the university's responsibility to throw frat kids a party?

Unfortunately there has not been much promotion on this game, ~2 weeks out.  They made a big deal about the Triple Header Day, when the game was first announces in the summer.

I don't think anything should be off the table in terms of drawing fans, and the more consistency they can have in doing things that people know will be fun the better. However, my experiences when they do things for fraternities and sororities (I was in one a long time ago) to come to the games is they do the tailgating, show up to the first quarter if there is something in it for them, and then leave right away. It is probably better than nothing and part of the overall formula of trying, but I don't think it is any better than any of the other initiatives they do or could try. That being said, I am for any and all ideas since it takes a lot to get people to come to games.

Please don't mistake this as me thinking we should be anywhere close to in the field, but why exactly is William & Mary's resume any better than Towson's accomplishments? They are 5-3, but their wins are VMI (0-8), Furman (2-5), Wofford (3-5), Campbell (3-5) , Hampton (5-3), and they have lost to us, Stony Brook and Coast Carolina. I know we are probable somewhere in the late 30s or early 40s in terms of where we sit. A win this week would let us have the conversation of being a fringe team, and I think we would then need to win out and keep our eye out for 6-7 teams to lose. It is always a fun conversation to talk about the playoffs, and we have had a damn tough schedule. However, it is not even worth thinking about unless we win this week.

I'm not saying we should be in or will make it (even if we somehow run the table, will just require way too many things to go right).  Just providing some views and talking points. As far as WM, well 5-3 is > 4-4 in their minds, (not saying its right or wrong), and they are a bigger name team, and started the season ranked, thus ranked now.

I completely understand. I always check those sites when we are anywhere near the conversation. I think your point is a good one in that even if we beat Richmond and run the table, we are so far off everyone's radar it will probably be hard to considered. I also know these guys are just compiling records and lists when they put this together and 4-4 isn't good enough to be anywhere near the playoffs. It is just silly that William & Mary is on anyone's list with such a flimsy resume. However, we understand that with all of our playoff comps over the years with New Hampshire.

Here are two FCS power rankings sites I found. I don't really have any idea what their criteria is for these rankings, but they vary quite a bit. I think the one with us at No. 36 makes more sense than the one that has us No. 58. Although reality, probably lies in the middle somewhere closer to the No. 36 number.

Probably not good for general conference tournament hopes that no one from the CAA was in NCAAs Top 10 reveal.

Also, decent mention in the Opta Weekly FCS preview.

The Big Sky, CAA and Missouri Valley usually claim the most bids to the FCS playoffs (last year, they had a combined 11 of the 14 at-large bids in addition to their automatic qualifier). It would hard for the selection committee to ignore any 8-4 team from those conferences. Here are two 4-4 teams that understandably are under the radar for at-large discussion, but have a chance to get there with a 4-0 November: Big Sky member Northern Arizona (four sub-.500 opponents that are a combined 8-23, starting Saturday at home against Weber State) and CAA member Towson (its toughest remaining game is at No. 16 Richmond on Saturday).
