at first glance you see 9 and go, "Wow that's low", but then you realize there are 16, SIXTEEN! teams. Not a good sign when 2 and 5 are on the way out the door. Also, not playing Delaware hurts. Isn't this their last season?

Yes last season for Delaware

I think preseason rankings are pretty meaningless for our 16 team conference

every team has a ton of question marks every year even more so in the transfer portal era

picked 9th is probably based on us losing to Norfolk State

Could still be a battle for who will start at QB for half these teams come week one

Goh Tigers! Win the battle for greater Baltimore!

I wouldn’t really pay too much attention to the preseason polls. We return most of our key players on offense and are adding a dynamic quarterback. Second season in a new system with a lot of weapons on offense and I feel they should be a top five team. Defense still a major concern due to the secondary but the new linebackers will help.

Just a quick observation that UNH is picked two spots ahead of us when last year’s starting QB left for Minnesota. They must think highly of the kid who’s replacing him. They were also a fairly mediocre team last season. I wonder what’s changed to make them the projected #7 team.

I don’t put a ton of stock into any of this really.

UNH is and always will get the benefit of the doubt.

Looking at the schedule vs rankings we play, 1, 4, 16, 10, 2, 12, 14, 11.. so a lot of the good teams and a lot of the bad teams. Also looking at our scehdule, we could very well start 1-4 which means they would have to run the table to make the playoffs.

Had a little down time today and listened to Coach Satterfield’s Big 12 media day comments about UC football. He mentioned that they’re bringing back all 5 OL starters from last season. That prompted me to revisit what our roster looks like at DL and who we will be throwing up against them. Listen, I have very practical expectations for what that game is going to be but I was particularly concerned about just how smallish our DL is after reviewing the roster. Looks like we maybe average 6’1 along the DL….have a few 6’3 dudes but they appear to be on the younger, less experienced side. I feel like we’re “size appropriate” at just about every other position other than d-line. We need to find some bigger dudes!

In addition, UC returns their leading rusher. Guessing we can possibly expect a massive ground offensive from the Bearcats.

On the bright side, UC is picked to be a bottom feeder in the Big 12 this year….maybe we’ll have a puncher’s chance.

You could have told me we were picked anywhere from sixth to 13th and I wouldn't have been surprised. I feel cautiously optimistic for year two under Shinnick. I had zero expectations for last season, and in true Towson fashion they started slow, got us slightly excited with some of the road wins, and then had the air go out of the bubble with the Delaware blow out. I definitely have November 16 circled as a day to possibly travel in for with football against NC AT and hoops against JMU. I will also probably drag myself to Fargo for the spectacle on September 21, but it is hard to have high expectations after witnessing what they did to us at Towson in-person.
