2024 General Football Thread

Had a little down time today and listened to Coach Satterfield’s Big 12 media day comments about UC football. He mentioned that they’re bringing back all 5 OL starters from last season. That prompted me to revisit what our roster looks like at DL and who we will be throwing up against them. Listen, I have very practical expectations for what that game is going to be but I was particularly concerned about just how smallish our DL is after reviewing the roster. Looks like we maybe average 6’1 along the DL….have a few 6’3 dudes but they appear to be on the younger, less experienced side. I feel like we’re “size appropriate” at just about every other position other than d-line. We need to find some bigger dudes!

In addition, UC returns their leading rusher. Guessing we can possibly expect a massive ground offensive from the Bearcats.

On the bright side, UC is picked to be a bottom feeder in the Big 12 this year….maybe we’ll have a puncher’s chance.

Yeah we’re not a very tall Dline, especially with the 6-4 Gibbs gone. But the weights are usually way off in the website. I’ll also have a clearer sense of the depth chart when I see them practice in a few weeks, especially on defense. I’ll be curious to see where some of the freshmen fit in because Pete said he will play them if they’re good enough to be out there.

Expectations are that we’re going to be better, but tough ass schedule early on.

This is kind of cool and I am glad to see that they are preparing some sort of ticket deal.  They need to promote the $hit out of this and get the students involved.  Hold a drawing for attending students and give them more chances to win by the number of games they attend that day.  Whatever the prize is make it HUGE!

Obviously they will have to clear out Towson Arena between volleyball and basketball.  Partner with a local restaurant and offer between game specials.  Depending on the estimated time between the end of volleyball and when the doors open for basketball you can do it at the location of the restaurant or setup something in the parking lot.  Make the day an event.

Triple header is kinda cool IF they actually have their SHH together and are prepared

12PM start time makes it tough for the non diehard hungover college kids to show up but hey maybe instead of leaving at half time students will be showing up at halftime for this one!

Noon or 1PM, it doesn't matter, for the last game of the year against a no name program, with likely bad weather and no playoff implications. If they get more than 50 students, that should count as a win.

Should do an all inclusive ticket for like 5 bucks, that gives you a seat anywhere you want for football and volleyball, and an upper level seat for hoops. For students should get a free meal or something at the basketball game, if they get a card stamped after halftime/second set for the first two events.

Why is everything post such a negative and sarcastic rant? You spew lots of innuendos in every post. All this is to  set the narrative of eliminating our Football program.

There you are!  How’s your summer been?

It’s cold in November. Fact

North Carolina A&T is not an opponent that brings out fans. Fact

Unless our last game is against JMU and they bring 3k fans, attendance is always bad for the home finale. Fact

If you’d like to dispute those, I would love to hear it. I state my opinions on here a lot but above are factual statements.

Also no need for the name calling, I thought we were all warned about that?! 😂. Don’t wonder kiddo I have thicker skin

Sorry about the previous post.  I was driving and the auto spell correct was in action.

Anyhow, I was actually referring to t your statement “ no playoff implications “ .
Thats your opinion , that’s not based on any facts.

I think this team will make the playoffs. I believe in this staff and their ability to win.  Our talent level 1-104 is as good as any other program in the CAA.

However, I do agree with your opinion in respect to the attendance.  The CAA ,and  i 1AA football in general, has been watered down.  Our peer institutions have all moved to 1A.

The last statement I agree with.

Obviously counting Wins and Losses is semantics but there are 2 guarantee losses and another that very high percentage,  that leaves 1 loss cushion... tough
