wonder if Elon or A&T blocked them. also no football so maybe that could have been a thing? is the CAA or all sports league or no? we continue to be caught in the middle of nether a good basketball league (like the old CAA) or an all sports league.  we don't really need another research triangle school in the conference although I would have taken them over A&T for sure.

Maine, Albany and UNH should have been the target for full members before we added a number of schools we ended up adding. (A&T, Hampton, Campbell, Monmouth)

Yet again, the conference leadership has failed time after time. you all know at this point my continued rants for it's time to leave

So Elon would let A&T and Campbell in but not high point???  Their arena is ridiculously nice.

couldn’t agree more. This league doesn’t know what they want to be in both athletics academics etc. so many mouths to feed with different interests and needs.  Atleast we have all our teams in a similar geographic area. Unlike most leagues now

Starts from the top. What has Joey D done to make anyone confident about the direction of this conference? When the leadership of the conference does not have a clear plan on what to do with the conference things like this will happen.  The only true reason as to why they might have said no could be no football, which would be fine if Joey D has defined just how important football is or isn't as part of the future of this sinking ship I mean conference.

We speculated it was the university who kicked Conway off the team, look here. 250+ students signed a petition that they didn’t like having a predator roaming freely on campus!

I am not a lawyer, so I do know if the school could prevent him from re-enrolling, but if all of these details are correct (which there is no reason to believe they aren't), adding him back to the team was/is an awful look.  One of the rare off the court errors (that we, the public knows of), in the Skerry era.

Crazy, that they can get 250+ to sign a petition but only about 50 to a football game on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  I do hope that these students and the admin take a look at other students/faculty too, for the overall safety of the University as a whole.

The whole situation with R. Conway is not easy to talk about because there are a lot of gray areas including what happened in 2022. Was it awkward to bring him back during the summer even as a walk-on? Sure. His brother is also an assistant and that makes it even more awkward. They didn't just drop him back on the team without some ok from the admin. I assume once the story got out, the complaints started pouring in, the admin got involved and we know what happened. Not getting into the legal stuff because people on here know more than I do so I won't guess.

It's all a GD shame because he was a local kid coming back home and had a decent first season. Seemed like a no-brainer of a transfer. An excellent interview especially for a freshman. Then it's all gone.

Exactly! If football is important you added the Northeast schools already members of CAA Football as full members and maybe Furman or Wofford that have some football tradition. If football is not the focus you add UNCG, UNCA, Gardner-Webb or Winthrop

Furman and Wofford type schools, aren't going to want to move to a conference with 14+ teams, the same odds to make the playoffs, and have to travel to 70% of the schools by plane, rather than bus.

Isn't the CAA and CAA Football two separate entities anyway?

i would have welcomed high point to the CAA have you seen their campus? It’s beautiful! Pools, movie theatres, free snacks handed out to students on the way to class, stretch golf carts taking prospective students and parents on tours across campus

They would probably be second to only Charleston in NIL resources. From what I remember hearing, they sounded like an NIL monster. One of the few things I don't mind about the broken NCAA system is that the NIL craziness actually allows some schools that have good connections or resources to be able to ramp up the quality of their programs pretty quickly. That is on the short list of pros that is buried by the list of cons.
