Football falls to No. 5 Villanova 14-13

BTW, the best thing the offensive coaching staff did was going uptempo. Would like to see more of that because defenses are tired and want to sub guys a lot, especially in the heat. Probably won't matter as much in the dome next week.

I was there with the Towson faithful. Gave words of encouragement and condolences to Vaughan family who were about ten rows in front of me . I am proud of this team for that performance. They hung in there till the very end. Not happy but proud none the less

Lol. ARETE proud

I’m not going to pin this one on the coaches.

Shinnick didn’t drop WIDE open passes in the end zone that would have won the game.

The OC didn’t flinch on the goal line in a critical moment to kill a potential TD drive.

The players need to man up in critical moments. That game was ours to win and in crucial situations the players came up small.

They are kids and are trying!  Coaching staff needs to do better, or they don’t. It’s Towson not like it will Matter!

Sorry, but the coaching staff has to bear some accountability. Players do as well. Calling a long pass on 3rd & 2; not being able to scheme up anything remotely resembling an adept goal line offense; having a guy returning KO’s who has no business doing so; calling a pass play where the ball is thrown directly into the path of the sun ☀️. These are a few of my favorite things 🥹.  Let’s deal in reality here-the season is already on the brink. It’s not inconceivable that after the W&M game we can all start looking forward to year 3 of the Shinnick era, as year two will be sans playoffs

On the bright side: Last year, most of us gave Pete the benefit of the doubt when he lost to the Norfolk States at home. It was his first season and he didn't have his players yet. He didn't have a real recruiting class. I think this is a better team overall and recruiting is strong. We might have a real DC finally. We barely lost to the supposed No. 5 team in the nation by one after losing by 23 last season. We lost to a Power 4 team by just 18 points on the road. So there are some strides made. He also didn't make the schedule with ND State and Cincinnati, basically two FBS-quality programs. Need to clean things up in terms of play-calling, discipline (a bit better today), gameplan, and really take a stronger look at special teams personnel.

Into the sun. He never saw the ball. Was blinded by the sun. Where we probably shouldn't have run that play on that side. It was a great throw.

To quote a former Towson head football coach who is still very close to the program, “Excuses are like ***holes, everybody’s got one and they all stink.”

Make the f'ing play.  Know the snap count.  Catch the damn ball.  Play your position.  Stop committing penalties.  Coaches can only do so much with the scheme.  They were in position to win the game and the players burped it up again.

And just once I'd like to see a Towson football team that isn't cut down by their special teams play.  Every single year it seems that some aspect of special teams hamstrings our season's progress.  You have one damn job as a kicker and if you're on scholarship, you'd better do that job.  If the snap is bad or the hold is bad, you get a pass.  It didn't look like that on the final play.

EXECUTE PROPERLY

If the tigers made the damn kick and won the damn game maybe I would have worn my Towson shirt to the Ravens game today in front of 70,000+ fans but nope I didn't want to be reminded of the choke job
