Jordan Mailata, from Fiji (via Australia) was 20 years when the Eagles picked him in the 7th round of the NFL draft. He had no football experience, but had been playing pro rugby. towsonx 4 Report post Posted September 7, 2018 True for NFL, but at the college level, it's not an anomaly. Other college programs recruit in that area and there's a lot of Samoan's in the NFL including, Haloti Ngata (ex Raven) who played football and rugby in High School (California).
