mat1992 2,231 Report post Posted June 2, 2022 What an absolute hard way of getting to the NFL and becoming a legit assistant coach from an OC and backup QB at Towson. Quote He played quarterback at Towson from 1999 to 2002. Over the two decades since, Fleury has held a bevy of positions on both college and NFL staffs, starting with a graduate assistant role under former Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen in 2003 and moving into the NFL as a quality control coach with the Buffalo Bills in 2013. (Fleury’s teammate at Towson was Jim O’Neil, who was the 49ers’ defensive coordinator in 2016. O’Neil was the linebackers coach at Buffalo in 2013 and helped open the door into the NFL for Fleury.) Fleury has coached DBs and outside linebackers and coordinated defenses and special teams units in the college game. He’s been with four NFL franchises. He was a football research analyst with the Dolphins for a year before being promoted to director of football research and strategy in 2017.
