Skerry recruits who’ve stayed

Recommended Posts

I like Fobbs. He’s the silver lining in a very dark cloud this season. I’m hoping he’ll be even better next year.

I’m not a Howard fan. I’m just tired of subpar PG play.

I want to see more of Solomon. And Timberlake shows flashes. I think Dottin can be an adequate backup PG, but nothing more. Selcuk I suspect is a candidate not to be back next year. And Betrand looks awful. 6-33 from the field.

Betrand has not looked good but it's a very small sample size. He's a long, athletic wing. He could develop into a 3&D guy because he really can't score off the dribble. His shot isn't bad if he's set up properly. Most freshmen need time to develop and he's one of them.

As the person who started this thread, my primary goal was to stimulate discussion. But I do admit it’s interesting (at least to me) that there hasn’t been a 4-year player in the Skerry era who has finished his career averaging more than 12ppg.

If we shift the conversation to transfers & JUCO’s, I don’t recall off the top of my head any really successful JUCO players in the Skerry era. As to transfers, Skerry obviously hit a home run with Benimon, though that was at the very beginning of Skerry’s tenure. Moto was good (on some occasions very good) though he was no Benimon (few are). McGlynn had his moments, and Morman did too, before he got booted off the team, that is.

Avg 12 ppg in your career gives you 1,500 points in your career.  That would make you one of the best players in school history....

Which is why, in the very 1st post in this thread, I noted that Morsell was in the upper echelon of scorers in school history

Timberlake and Fobbs seem to have most upside. Everyone else meh. As to whether they can improve with this staff and system remains to be seen...
