  1. Time to bring another trophy home!
  2. In other news, wishing Skerry all the best. As Matt posted his father passed away. Can’t imagine what’s he going through, certainly more pain than any of us over a basketball game.
  3. Good points and I agree to an extent, but I’m not going to get on my knees and unzip UMBC’s zipper just because they are local and made the dance. But yes, if anything it would only make our degrees more valuable with all the national recognition. Luckily my employers haven’t mispronounced Towson at any of my interviews haha
  4. Historically, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has had a stronger basketball history than the America East Conference (AE). Here’s why: 🏀 Overall Historical Strength CAA > America East The CAA has historically been considered the better mid-major basketball conference because it has had: More NCAA tournament success More nationally ranked teams More programs that later moved to bigger conferences 📊 NCAA Tournament Success CAA highlights George Mason Patriots men's basketball – Final Four (2006) One of the biggest Cinderella runs ever. VCU Rams men's basketball – Final Four (2011) Another historic run from a CAA school. Old Dominion Monarchs men's basketball – multiple tournament wins. UNC Wilmington Seahawks men's basketball – several appearances. The conference used to produce multiple bids in some years. America East highlights Vermont Catamounts men's basketball – upset Syracuse Orange men's basketball in 2005. UMBC Retrievers men's basketball – historic 16 vs 1 upset over Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball in 2018. Those were huge moments, but they’re isolated events, not sustained conference strength. 🏫 Programs and Conference Realignment Another sign of strength is schools getting poached by bigger conferences. The CAA lost several strong programs because they moved up: VCU → Atlantic 10 George Mason → Atlantic 10 Old Dominion → Conference USA Georgia State → Sun Belt This means the old CAA was even stronger than today. America East programs historically haven’t moved up as much, which usually indicates a lower overall profile. 📈 Reputation Among Mid-Majors Historically: CAA: often ranked among the top mid-major leagues (with MVC, A10, WCC). America East: usually viewed as a one-bid league with fewer national wins. ✅ Bottom line: CAA historically stronger conference America East historically weaker but has had some iconic upsets
  5. 2nd worst** based on RPI.
  6. Second worst conference. So they moved up one spot.
  7. Imagine supporting or “backing” a school because of how well their sports team does. That’s got to be the most braindead way of deciding who you support that I’ve ever heard. Don’t even count the fact that you pay ~$800/semester directly towards Towson’s athletic department.
  8. 6 likes on a tweet from an account with 60k followers, doubt that’s the engagement ratio for “getting roasted” And once again, speaking in the non fantasy and meaningless world of basketball, Towson is a better school than UMBC at this point in time. Glad all those graduates who will hate their time in UMBC can hold onto a NCAA appearance. I loved my time at Towson which is why I support the teams. Loved my professors, the people, etc. can’t the same for my time at UMBC… the sexual assaults… the lack of hygiene.. the disgusting food… yea I’ll take Towson all day and their 30 year NCAA drought
  9. The win I will give it that, they will hold onto that forever. But again, when all is said and done… glad my degree says Towson not UMBC.
  10. Playing in the AE, which is the worst conference in the country vs the CAA which is a borderline t10 conference. I would rather break through in the CAA than play mediocre teams the entire year. Just me though. There’s a reason why UMBC averaged 1,100 in attendance, they don’t play anyone good. You thought Towson plays bad teams? Go to the Peake and watch their opponents, it’s bad but it makes UMBC look good. UNCW, CoC, Hofstra, all 100x more fun to play against and the wins mean more as a fan of the game. If Towson went to the AE, coaching aside you don’t think they would run through the conference with their resources? Also, the school itself sucks. There’s a reason why all the students who go there either focus on transferring out to Maryland or Towson, it’s lost a lot of the shine that made it a top choice in Maryland (educationally). This is coming from someone who spent two years at UMBC.
  11. Don’t get between 2012 and his agenda lol
  12. Not really Skerry’s fault teams don’t want to come to SECU. It’s a problem across all of college basketball. Not saying he’s asking the best programs in the country to come, but most mid majors like Liberty, Belmont, Memphis etc would never come to SECU. If whatever they lost it would completely shatter any chance of a bid they would otherwise get (if a 2 bid league)
  13. UMBC couldn’t even get 80% attendance with a championship game at their own arena on a Saturday afternoon. That’s bad
  14. Why so late? Seems like this should’ve been done a few weeks if was planned, did something happen?
