That’s a shame about Mike Rowe. Wonder what his gripe is with the school. I’m intrigued by your reference to a mysterious wealthy donor. Are they well known? Should I know who this person is?
-
Certainly not an exciting schedule but let’s be honest, on paper, it lends itself well to a legitimate shot at the playoffs.
-
Does anyone know how connected, if at all, alumnus Mike Rowe is to TU? I know he doesn’t have “A-list” celebrity money but he’s clearly done very well for himself. He’s not shy about his pride and love for his Baltimore roots….does that extend to his time at Towson? He’s a big sports fan from what I understand. He’d probably be able to stroke a nice check to our collective/NIL funds…..or, let’s say, enough to cover a coach’s contract buy-out??
-
Agreed. Also, no more hiring of “Pats” or “Mikes” as basketball coaches. Between Kennedy/Skerry and Hunt/Jaskulski, I think we’ve exhausted our Pat & Mike quotas and they haven’t worked out well.
-
Well, on the bright side we’re only 8 months away from the football season.

Someone please make this nightmare end!

I went back into the archives and found my very first post on this fan board…..from almost 7 years ago. Amazing how applicable, relevant and timely it is all these years later.

At the end of the 2010 season we were 1-10. At the end of the 2013 season we were playing for a national championship. Fortunes can change pretty quickly in football particularly in this transfer era and in this watered-down CAA.

For what it might be worth, my local kid who is built like and can throw and run like a young(er) Josh Allen is looking for a school. Can someone get his info to Coach Pete and staff? https://x.com/qbc_atlanta/status/1866225976063193593?s=46&t=fR0BE-ZSjjxLQwcKb42n4w

Nice size.

This is really cool news….and don’t be so quick to count-out our Tigers. We could be title contenders by 2027.
-
I’m going to refrain from making any more comments on our men’s basketball team until March.

It’s no secret that I’d very much like to see a change in leadership for our MBB team. It’s long overdue. Having said that, Pat Skerry is a very likeable guy. I just wish his postseason and non-conference success were greater because he’s easy to root for and I like to see good things happen to good people. He’s a good person.

2024-25 Football signing day thread - Early and Late

How often does a kid pick TU over UNC, Va Tech, Duke or WVU?? Would love to know how what convinced him to pick Towson. (Love that he did!) -
Big picture, I’m encouraged by the direction of the program under Coach Shinnick. The reality is he was hired by TU on December 11, 2022 which means he didn’t have an opportunity for a December signing period and only had about 6 weeks to cobble together recruits to sign in February of 2023. I give him a total pass for that recruiting class. He’s really only had one true recruiting class, the guys he signed in December 2023/February 2024. He and his staff have been active in the transfer market and have brought in a few nice contributors through “free agency” so far. Really looking forward to seeing what this staff can bring in with a second full year of recruiting activity. There has been YoY improvement with win/loss record and as noted earlier, we were painfully close to getting 8 wins this season if not for a couple of missed FGs and that dropped “gimme” of a TD pass against Villanova. I like that he’s not afraid to make changes on his staff as we saw with the OC position last week. I do think the training wheels come off in season 3 and the team should be expected to make a legitimate run at the conference title and claim a playoff spot. Go Tigers!
-
No biggie but I think he’s from FAU.

Ol' K.C. Keeler making a return to the mid-Atlantic. Smart hire by Temple. Guessing there may be a few recruiting battles between Temple & Towson in the near future.

Report: Football moves on from Sheppard at OC/QB coach
AtlantaTiger replied to mat1992's topic in Football Talk
Just noticed this post/update. I'm very pleased Coach Pete didn't waste any time and made the change quickly after the season. I have faith he'll make a quality OC hire. Excited to see what type of recruiting class he pulls together! -
Amazing. Preseason #8 in the CAA and winless going into that game. Good for them! No matter how much dust it collects, we’ll always have our win against Oregon State….no one can ever take that away from us!!

Kent State beats MBB 65-54 to open Western Slam

All these injuries are impacting Skerry’s basketball coaching genius. It’s not fair to him. If only he had a completely healthy roster we would be undefeated. I think he should be given another 5 year extension so that he has a legitimate opportunity to show what he can do when everyone is healthy at all times. -

There will not be a single noteworthy non-conference win by the Tigers this season. -
Nice win for Drake over Miami earlier today. I love a good mid-major upset.
-
Of all the positives to be taken from this game I think I’m most impressed with going 8 for 9 at the FT line. A little surprised we got to the line so few times, but I’ll take 88% everyday of the week.
-
Not sure if it was already mentioned earlier this week but our mid-major brethren, UNF, notched ANOTHER win over a “big boy” school this week. In a matter of a week and half they’ve slayed South Carolina and Georgia Tech. Who do they think they are beating all these high-major schools in a single season!?!?
