Hopefully UNCW will be down by 1, with May at the foul line at end of the game. We played them in their house last season so, if we play them this coming season, it should be here, I would think
-
Absolutely disagree. We need a backup PG, a 2 guard and a big. Three needs, three open ships. The question is do we have any dinero left to bring in competent players to fill those 3 gaps (or can we fill 1 or more of those gaps on the cheap. Bargains are out there to be found). The core of the team (TT, DWill, Doumbia, and probably Womack, despite being a freshman), is pretty damn good for this level, especially given that some other teams in the conference have been decimated (remains to be seen how they respond). You only need an 8-9 man rotation, so why don’t we wait and see who else is onboarded. I’m not coronating us as ncaa tournament bound, but you’re being way too gloomy, at the other end of the spectrum
-
Say what want about Skerry, but this is a helluva coup. Bouquets 💐 probably need to be tossed at Eigenbrot and Prez Ginsberg too. It’s entirely possible TT & DWill will be the only 2 players from the 1st, 2nd & 3rd all CAA teams that will be back in the conference this fall. Now, does this guarantee we win the conference championship next season, of course not. But, with these two guys back, and adding in Doumbia, Womack and whoever we add with the last two open ships (assuming they aren’t stiffs) you can’t help but be a little optimistic. I will say this-I think this ratchets up the pressure on Skerry to finally get us to the promised land

You’ve got a completely negative attitude 😆. Now maybe you’ll be proven right, but your argument is not always correct. Moto didn’t; Holden didn’t; Benimon didn’t, and there are others who’s regression was nominal, if they regressed at all (McGlynn probably fits in this category, Burwell, who might actually belong in the “did better after getting here” category). Don’t take this the wrong way, but your crystal ball 🔮 has been on the fritz lately. Didn’t you write on the board thst you had a source who told you Tejada and DWill were imminently on the verge of entering the portal?
-
I hope that’s his floor. I think his ceiling is higher than that. If he can avg 9-10ppg with say 5 boards, I would be satisfied
-
Doumbia sounds like a good get. Certainly should be better than May and Lowery. Shot over 50% from the field; almost 6rpg; almost 2apg; almost 1 block per game. He doesn’t shoot 3’s, but we have other guys who can, & he needs to improve his ft shooting. He had a 15 game stretch this past season where he avg’d 15.5 ppg. Thats not over 2-3 games, but rather half a season
-
The Mormon guy was probably on a church mission for a year or two, so that, at least to some extent, is mitigating. I’m sorry, but playing at more than 3 schools makes a mockery out of any pretense of being a “student athlete.” Frankly, 3 schools is pushing it, IMHO, but 4+ is just a joke

Meet Mark Freeman. Mark will be 25 years old before the next college basketball season begins. He’s already played at Morehead State, Tennessee State, Illinois State and was at JMU last season. Mark has, wait for it, just entered the portal and will be playing for his 5th college team this fall. There’s a word for folks like Mark, who go to school for as long as he has…it’s called doctor This is a complete abomination and any school that takes him should be ashamed. He’s a grown man; time to go out into the grown up world. I wonder if he even has a degree, or will wind up with one. I only hope enough coaches who have a bully pulpit will speak out against this insanity, or that the NCAA just disintegrates and lets the schools with zillion dollar budgets form their own professional league. I also hope some of these schools overextend themselves financially and wind up hopelessly in debt. A hex on all their houses

Would be a great storyline if he went there and came back to TU Arena to play against us.

As I’ve stated previously, I think most of us want Tejada and DWill back. Having said that, I think, even if they do return, we need to beef up the supporting cast. As inconsistent as he was, Tarke did avg in low double digits and now he’s gone. May, Lowery & Suliman, who combined avg’d 20 ppg, are also gone. I have hopes for Womack, the incoming freshman, but that remains to be seen. One thing I think we definitely need to shore up, regardless of the status of Tejada and DWill, is we need a competent big man. Jones, who was hobbled & undersized in any event is gone, Embeya is a work in progress and Samb is who he is. Combined those 3 avg’d what, 7-8 ppg and maybe around the same in rebounds. We need a guy who can provide some rim protection and rebounding, with scoring being an added bonus.

If you’re from Dodge City, you better be able to shoot 😆

That’s part of the House settlement, which I believe will kick in effective 7/1/25, which for the State starts the new fiscal year
-
We’ll see. The opera ain’t over yet. I mean, you may be right; you may not be. Time (and it won’t be long) will tell
-
Will be his 3rd school in 3 years. Let’s see a show of hands for everyone who thinks a guy like this is really going to classes, or, if he is, that they’re basically basket weaving 101. What a farce
-
So, the 9 who will play next season, who didn’t play this season, are Cole, Coleman, Ndefo, Womack, Barton and whichever 3 players are brought in to fill the 3 open spots that currently exist. I’m not counting Holmes, as I assume he won’t see the floor this coming season. Of course, that number could still go up, but, even if it doesn’t, it’s basically a whole new team, which may not be a bad thing
-
Well, let’s reserve judgement until we see who, if anyone, gets paid. Might it not be preferable to lose May and Lowery, who avg’d a combined 13 ppg, if we’re able to retain 1 or 2 other much more productive players (assuming that comes to pass)
-
A little disappointed, as he was an asset defensively. I’d be more disappointed if he had any semblance of an outside shot, which he doesn’t. That deficiency makes him, at least at our level, a role player. Wish him the best. If/when he ever develops a shot he could be a real problem
-
Of the 15 players who made 1st, 2nd and 3rd team all CAA, I believe 5 may have exhausted their eligibility (Camden-DE; Newby-UNCW; Dorsey-W&M; Farrakhan-Hampton and Fulton-C of C). Of the remaining 10, 8 have entered the portal. At the moment, only 2 of the top 15 might be back in the conference next season, and that number could still be reduced before all is said and done
-
if we only had the Don, Vito Corleone, on our side I’d feel much more confident. I defy anyone to tell me this isn’t one of the greatest movies, along with GF2, of all time
-
Well, here’s the thing, some schools have to rebuild, others just have to reload. Granted, C of C didn’t win the tournament this year, but I think it’s safe to assume they’re not going to let any moss grow on them when it comes to being active in the portal
-
Et tu, C of C?🤔
-
You make some valid points.
-
2012 has a point-might be easier to list the guys who are staying. Got to be demoralizing to the coaches and fans of these schools, including ours, to be in a perpetual rebuild every year. I know some coaches have spoken out against this madness, and I think there might even be a few who are getting out of the profession, at least at this level. The reality though is that the genie 🧞♂️ is out of the bottle, and is never getting put back in. This is now professional sports, where loyalty to the school that recruited you is an antiquated notion, replaced by and large by who’s the highest bidder for these mercenaries. Guess you can’t blame the players, greed notwithstanding. I suspect many of us would leave our current employer (and these players are now employees, in my mind) for a more lucrative job. Guess I’m just clinging to a bygone era where free tuition, meals, and board (and a chance to spotlight yourself for the pros) was a pretty good deal. The kids going to school to be doctors, lawyers etc (you know, the real important jobs) aren’t getting paid hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of dollars. And if that ball comes on my yard again, you’re not getting it back!!!

The way the NCAA loses every court case, don’t be surprised if the day comes where eligibility will be open ended, as long as the player is registered for at least one class and is “pursuing a degree”
