mat1992 Posted December 14, 2023 Author Report Posted December 14, 2023 (BTW, it would be nice to have a president who is into sports. It seems like this is finally the case. Dr. Ginseberg is a Penn State football fan. His first date with his wife Elaine was at a Nebraska/Penn State game as both were grad students. She's a Nebraska native) For those who did not read this, here are the highlights from Goals https://towsontigers.com/documents/2023/12/13/Athletics_5_Year_Goals.pdf 1)As part of the 5-year Goals, AREA 5 : FACILITIES - Improve exposure to the South Campus Athletics Complex within local community(Osler Road, local highway and road signage) - Complete Field House renovation including Athletic Training facilities - Complete master planning for Towson Center and start renovations - Establish a South Campus Dining facility 2)AREA 6 : RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND REVENUE GENERATION RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Bring operating budget to pre-COVID levels and surpass a 50% average of the CAA - Fund athletics scholarships at a level equal to or greater than our CAA peers - Execute five-year plan, bringing TU Athletics to a financially sustainable status with a balanced budget - Exceed $50K in annual revenue from rental of TU Athletics fields - Eclipse $200K in annual NIL support for Towson student-athletes REVENUE GENERATION TIGER ATHLETIC FUND - Increase annual fund support to $1.5 million per year of new commitments - Eclipse 2,500 unique donors to Towson Athletics - Land $750,000 in major gift pledges towards capital improvements each year TICKET OPERATIONS - Surpass 850 season tickets sold across all sports - Exceed $425,000 in total ticket revenue CORPORATE SPONSORSHIPS - Average over $1 million in corporate sponsorships annually - Find new naming rights partner for TU Arena - Land annual six-figure naming rights partner for an unnamed facility or playing field 3)Brand Advancement We have sealed a deal with Monumental Sports Network, formerly NBC Sports Washington, that aired four Towson football games and three volleyball matches this past fall and will broadcast seven men's basketball and five women's basketball games this winter. We are also announcing an agreement today with MeTV Baltimore to televise three men's basketball conference games. Twelve of our 14 men's home games will now be televised on linear television with two airing on CBS Sports Network. In all the Tigers will make a total of 23 appearances on linear TV this basketball season. This important stride provides exposure to our Towson brand across the Mid-Atlantic, getting our broadcasts into households throughout a seven-state footprint in our region. 4)Improving and Enhancing Facilities; Revenue Generation The Tiger Athletic Fund is working to engage with fans and alumni who want to invest in our future. We are currently ahead of where we were last year, but still behind our pre-pandemic fundraising totals. As we continue to elevate the department, support is needed now more than ever. In the coming months, we are excited to share updates to the anticipated Phase 2 Renovation of the Field House and future plans for improving the Towson Center. As we settle into the holiday season, I want to express my gratitude to you as someone who is interested in what is going on at Towson. Without the fans at the games, parents tailgating and traveling afar to support their loved ones or alumni stepping up to support, our student-athletes striving for excellence is not possible. Your enthusiasm and support provide our teams with energy each and every day. 2 Quote
Blounge Posted December 14, 2023 Report Posted December 14, 2023 He talks the talk, but we’ll see what the results are in 5 years. We all have mentioned a dorm or dining hall on the stadium side of campus would help improve foot traffic to the games. The south campus pavilion and auburn house are nice but they need more stuff built up over there to draw a regular crowd. love the TV deals, it’s nice being able to watch from the couch without needing an extra streaming service. the fan attendance is gonna be heavily dictated by the students. If they can get the students to buy in that will make games more fun and draw better ticket sales for years to come gonna need lots of money to accomplish this, but if we can find half a million dollars per year to pay Coach Skerry we can find the money somehow Quote

(Besides the people on here who think Towson is the “best fcs town” 😆) Makes little sense IMO I would say student attendance probably makes up 15-20% of the crowds. That’s poor. It’s worse now for basketball then when we were in the TC watching pats cats. Atleast they had 40 or so students who stood and cheered. They were next to the band and right near the oppositions bench. We have gotten so far away from that now, it’s not even funny TV is a good and bad thing. Gets the school out to non fans, but can also reduce attendance Quote
