mat1992 Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=484862 Towson got behind by as many as 18 in the first half. They cut the lead to eight at halftime and then led by as many as five in the first half, but couldn't hold on to the lead as Hampton made several buckets at the end to win their first conference game 67-61 at home on Saturday. Charles Thompson led the Tigers with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Christian May added 12 points and two steals. Towson shot just 36.2% from the field for the game and 2-of-15 from beyond the arc (13.3%). https://towsontigers.com/news/2024/2/17/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-falls-at-hampton-67-61.aspx Quote
TSU88 Posted February 17, 2024 Report Posted February 17, 2024 Unacceptable. Rather than bother with a postmortem, I’ll leave it at we don’t have enough talent and we don’t have a coach capable of getting us to where we want to go. Other than that, everything is peachy. Rinse, wash, repeat. Let’s see where we are in the 2027-28 season. 3 Quote
mat1992 Posted February 17, 2024 Author Report Posted February 17, 2024 No, good, bad and ugly for this one. This was just ugly and they deserved this loss for coming out like hot garbage in the first half. Hampton pretty much made everything they threw up until about the five minute mark of the first half. *May had 12 points, but stepped out of bounds twice in the last five minutes including one where he made the three-point shot.. *The defense and effort was non-existent in the first half and down the stretch. *The constant swtiching on defense to have Charles defend a quicker guard worked at times instead of the normal hedging, but the key shot to win the game was when Cooper Jr. hit a three when Charles had to give him a few feet. *Kyrese Mullen, their leading scorer, got a tech and then had to sit the rest of the game in the second half. Towson made all four FTs but couldn't take advantage of his loss down below (not much of a defender I gather) as Benson kept Thompson at bay the rest of the second half. *Tarke and Williamson were a combined 3 of 21 from the field. Guard play. Guard play. Guard play. Can't have and that and just rely on Charles backing in people all game because it looked as though was tired at the end. *Freshmen struggled. Tejada, Williamson and Lowery either couldn't shoot or had some terrible turnovers in the first half. *Getting a top four seed is improbable now. Not the way this team plays on the road and with Charleston coming in to avenage that first loss. Quote

But we came out there just going to Charles a few times, going through the motions, didn't guard the three, got killed on the hedge early and they got confidence as the game went on. They could have folded as they usually do but we were the team that folded in the end. That's unacceptable. Quote

Soft! Too thin skinned. As long as a post doesn’t cross certain boundaries of decency, it should be permitted. Put a better product on the court instead of engaging in petty censorship 2 Quote
