mat1992 Posted February 16 Author Report Posted February 16 I know some people ignore my posts about recruiting and that's fine. To me, it's the lifeblood of the program. Especially in the NIL era, it's even more important to hit as many home runs and triples as you can. This staff has struggled to get impact transfers other than Cam Holden and they need to turn that around next season and hit at least one player (hopefully a combo or lead guard). But without a strong recruiting class of HS players, none of that matters. I've talked ad nauseum about Jaquan Womack because he's a three-star player who has been heavily recruited by mid-majors and comes from a great HS program. Jon Barton also comes from a good program though he doesn't appear to be as more than a rotation player at least in the early going. Center Brandon Holmes is more of a project and could redshirt his first season. So for 2025-26, we have 3* PF J. Womack (many offers), combo guard J. Barton (a lot of mid-major offers early last summer) and center B. Holmes (St. Louis, GW offer) 2024-25. We had 3* Caleb Embeya (Seton Hall offer) and F Chike Ndefo (Drexel, Iona and more). I'd say that's incomplete knowing that Ndefo is redshirting and Embeya has shown flashes but has not been consistent. Those guys have to get better and stronger next season. 2023-24: Tyler Tejada, Mekhi Lowery, Jaiden Cole. Tejada is one of the best HS players Skerry has ever recruited and I don't think was heavily recruited. Offered by Rider, LUI and Robert Morris. He's a HR. Lowery has been a rotation player, defender and rebounder, but still is very raw offensively. Recruited by mostly midwest schools like Valpo and Bradley. Cole (Kennesaw St. offer) rarely played his first season and redshirted this season. Has to get better next season. 2022-23: This is where recruiting started to pick up: Dylan Williamson (Fordham, Albany). He redshirted his first season and is having quite the r-sophomore campaign. Great recruit. Christian May (GW, Fordham and a lot more) had some strong offers coming out of Bishop O'Connell HS. Has slipped offensively this season and gotten to be all-defensive quality. More like a double. 2021-22: Not good. Tyler Gill, Tyler Coleman, Radhir Hicks. Gill didn't have D1 offers at least according to Verbal Commits. Hicks did have a GW offer and Coleman had the Mount. This is why I bring up in football and basketball about recruits and how many quality offers did they have. That's more important than some star system because we've had some three star guys that were busts and some no star guys (Tejada, DWill) that turned out pretty good. Quote

Especially those quick to bury this team early. Never understood why folks didn’t get the “everyone back, picked to win” talent . Small sample size of sick/ injuried guys early …. And “the sky was falling” for the 2-3 typically “fire the coach” malcontents. It’ll be a short one (w a funny accent); but they oughta build a statue to da coach ; not post to fire him. Listen to Goodman, and EVERY other media guy that KNOWS BASKETBALL when they cover Towson (glad the AD and Pres do). Not the 2-4 malcontents that don’t understand basketball (nothing wrong a selling insurance or doing whatever ya do - but , if you really don’t get the game. Shhhhhh, and try to learn . This staff (and earlier assistants ) have turned chicken shit (like ….do you REALLY understand what WORST D1 TEAM IN THE COUNTRY MEANS?)… into (tasty) chicken salad check my early posts; I’m a “TOLD YA SO” from early in the season, this run has NOT surprised me. (Too many good players, and if you defend and rebound they way they ALWAYS DO; only a matter of time ) It’s NOT just the makes, you gotta watch where guys are shooting from , if they are being run off screens, and the reaction from (both) coaches …. like sorry for their slow starts but these are good players. we ain’t at practice ; most just don’t know to the “haters”; truly hope you can snack on some humble pie, and … NOT root for a “told ya so “ upset in DC. Feels like some would prefer said victory lap (aka - poo in pants) they continued success ill be in DC, buying beers; til then - BIG ONE Thursday at Elon (cause …. They all are now ) LFGOOOOOoooo. Enjoy this ; and get ready for the final stretch Quote
