mat1992 Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=550196 First of all, terrible performance on both ends of the floor. Marcus Banks looked like Tyler Thomas against us, if not better. I'm not going to get into the particulars. Just read the boxscore. Tejada and Williamson were fine. Everyone else can't shoot. Dylan took just 12 shots made 8. It was nice having Tejada back, but it seemed like the team wasn’t ready to play. Maybe relaxed who knows. Tejada didn’t start for some reason and again, we continue to start lineups with Tarke and Samb when Lowery, even after a slow start, is the better player by far. Those two players are not going to get it done. They are not the present or future. Tarke should be a sixth man or whatever with May back. Why not start your best players so you’re not down by 8 before the first media timeout. *Not going to talk about free throws when it wasn’t a close game, but sheesh, when Tyler and Dylan are missing them, there’s something wrong with the focus. *Let’s start with the offense. It’s not that they don’t move the ball. And yes, there were about 10 shots missed around the basket by a variety of players. It’s that they don’t move well enough without the ball. Everyone is stationary. I’m watching UMBC and they move it well, but also have players who are moving without the ball. A guy like May, who can jump but is struggling with his shot, needs to consistently move. It’s a very old reference but John Havlicek was very famous for that he’s way before my time. He was famous for cutting without the ball as well as anybody who ever played and had incredible stamina. Not saying that it’s just May but everyone needs to move but you also need screens set. Jones, Samb, Embeya and Sulaiman should be setting them either up high or low. Tejada is a stud on offense. We certainly missed him when he was out, but either he needs help on D or was slowed due to the ankle. When Lowery had that foul on Banks (I think) making that three-pointer early in the second half, he was trying to help out on Tejada’s man and then came to contest too later. Tejada is a 4 and appears to struggle against smaller wings, which was an issue last season. But if May, Tarke and Lowery are not on the floor against a smaller team, then Sulaiman and Tejada have to guard those quicker players. Condolences to Jimmy Patsos on the loss of his wife yesterday. Terrible news. Quote
tualum Posted December 7, 2024 Report Posted December 7, 2024 Worse home loss I’ve seen since following the skerry era. Says a lot since I’ve witnessed a bunch of crappers since then. Skerry needs to be held accountable this time around. But season still young and on to the next one.. 1 Quote
mat1992 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Report Posted December 7, 2024 I was not at the game so I wasn't at the press conference. I wish I was, but I'll try and get the YouTube reactions in about 10-15 minutes. Look enough of the Samb experiment at center. It's over. He's just not playable and Tyler Coleman should be the third-string center. Messiah Jones was serviceable today. Tarke and Samb to the bench. Embeya/Jones (it doesn't matter), May, Lowery, Tejada and Williamson. Quote

Of course, he does and yes, this was one of his worst home losses since the first season when there were no expectations. Quote
