mat1992 Posted December 15, 2024 Report Posted December 15, 2024 https://goduquesne.com/sidearmstats/mbball/summary Another no-show performance by the offense away from home. Despite Tarke and May getting benched. It did not matter. Not beating anybody when Tejada and Williamson are a combined 3 for 17. Or get outrebounded by 10. There's really not a lot of hope now and it starts with what was my biggest issue with the team in the summer. In 15 years or 20 years of covering this team, I've never seen a player more missed after graduation than Charles Thompson. Sure, Jerrelle Benimon was sorely missed but we at least brought in Moto, who was a smaller and a lot less productive version. It's not the reason they lost tonight, but not having him on the floor (and yes, they should have replaced him with a better big man), they lack a leader, they lack physical and mental toughness, they lack a great screener and a pretty good passer. It's insane that we've fallen off this bad from an average team last season, almost like falling off a cliff. The big man problem is not going away. It sounded like Embeya was unplayable tonight and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he had the flu this week. But everyone else? Dylan not sure where he was tonight. May hit his first 3 and did little else. Tejada is shooting poorly in five games. The offense is dreadful when you barely get a shot off each possession. But this is a broken record that I'm just getting tired and drained of talking about the same old crap. The sickness is still there, but hopefully coming to an end. I don't when their offensive drought will ever end. You knew this game was over in the first half when Dinkins hit a 35-foot 3-pointer. We just can't come back. It's like an option football team that can't come back from being down by three touchdowns. Unfortunately, it is what it is. Quote
mat1992 Posted December 15, 2024 Author Report Posted December 15, 2024 Skerry after the game on TowsonTigers.com “We are struggling on offense. Not making layups, 3s. The only thing we’re doing is taking care of the ball. Not playing well. Get it to 6 and right now, we buckle. Gave up a 3. Inept on the other end. Believe in our guys. Not shooting the ball. Causing us to buckle defensively. We have to do a better job of taking the last 3s away. Who is the guy that makes the big shot? We haven’t had it yet. Dylan has done it at home. We didn’t have it tonight. Can’t win at this level shooting this poorly.” “Played him a little less (May). Good to see him make a shot. Played 23 minutes and had just 3 rebounds. No assists. 1 for 6. I believe he’s a better player than he’s shown. Not the only guy struggling. Tarke played ok . Guys are preparing and working hard. Our spirits hurt a bit. We have to do a better job of in the guts of the game. Who is pulling through? A little bit too nice. This is disappointing. Get it to 6 with 7 or 8 minutes left, Haven’t shown any mobility to squeeze or lock in on either end of the floor. Starts with me. Combinations. What we’re running and doing. When we have good teams, we can do a few things things well. (But) fouling late clock when it gets to 6? When you are shooting the ball as poorly as we are, it does put a lot of pressure on our defense. How will guys respond? We’re 4 for 23 from our sophomores. I like my group. Used to love them. Want to get to love them again. Struggling with consistency in execution and individual performance. Can’t feel sorry for yourself. Find out about guys. What are they made of? We’ll find out.” Quote
TuTigers2012 Posted December 15, 2024 Report Posted December 15, 2024 3-7 record. 61.4 ppg. With a career .500 coach. Wake me up in 2027 when this **** mess is over. IN-EXCUSABLE kudos to clueless Pat for sort of doing his job (post game sound bites) FIRE PAT!! Quote
Tiger12 Posted December 15, 2024 Report Posted December 15, 2024 Another abysmal performance, at what point is this program going to make a change? I know it’s unreasonable to expect anything mid season, point blank not happening but they have to move on from Skerry. It’s beyond time, which is a shame because I think Pat is a fantastic ambassador for the program and the sport as a whole and I really wanted to succeed here. The truth of the matter is this program is becoming less and less relevant in a day and age where smaller programs have the most exposure they’ve ever had thanks to social media and sports betting. Towson desperately needs fresh blood and tonight was the straw the broke the camels back. 1 1 Quote

AtlantaTiger Posted December 15, 2024 Report Posted December 15, 2024 I went back into the archives and found my very first post on this fan board…..from almost 7 years ago. Amazing how applicable, relevant and timely it is all these years later. 1 1 Quote
tualum Posted December 15, 2024 Report Posted December 15, 2024 The alum can’t conjure up any words to provide any glimpse of optimism. Just the way of Skerryball , wash , rinse, repeat.., sad 1 1 Quote

Next Sunday will be the first home game I willingly don’t attend since the 2007-08 season. Minus the covid season, this will make game number 6. Quote
