So much for the anticipated rock fight and first to score 50 points. Towson and Drexel played a thriller at the DAC, but Nendah Tarke helped save the day with his two three-pointers late in the game to help Towson force overtime and then outscore the Dragons by 11 points to win 93-82 and improve to 3-1 in the CAA with Hofstra looming next Thursday at TU Arena. This was also

After the game, Skerry on TowsonTigers.com

"Sometimes better than be lucky than good. Our guys fought hard. Tough team to guard. We couldn't guard and they couldn't guard us. We took care of the ball. Tyler (Tejada) picked it up with 9 rebounds. Dylan lives for the moment. Proud of Tarke back in rhythm. Great win. (wasn't happy with D). Enjoy this one. Nice steak and cheese sub. Watch Ravens. Wild game. Nendah was great. A really good player.

"We are going to enjoy this one and start prepping for Hofstra. National TV hopefully good crowd. I don't think people should be frustrated with Nendah. He's a good teammate. We want him to be aggressive at the point of attack. He's handled coming off the bench very maturely. We still have some things to figure out. Three guys off the bench with 68 points. Embeya is coming on. Took big spill. Messiah played good defense late in the game. Toughness. Great team win."

Kind of speechless after this game. You don't expect a guy who was shooting around 20% from three-point range to save you down 6 and make two threes to send it to overtime. Defensively, we were bad against them off the dribble and with Hargrove, who is a beast, inside. When he fouled out, I knew it was pretty much over. That and Dylan becoming DWill again with 7 assists and 10-of-15 shooting. It's about making drives and those short jumpers in the lane instead of just taking threes. He was great even if he had trouble against Drake and Blakney, who are short but physical guards.

What's shocking is that we can have holes defensively, but somehow win these games that we probably couldn't have won in the past. It's not like we have an entire team shooting well. If it takes Caleb Embeya getting a career-high 13 points and Tarke going nuts after having a horrendous first two months shooting the ball, that's fine. May (1 for 5) and Lowery (0 points in 12 minutes) need to play better, though if they struggle, Pat has every right to bench them down the stretch and in overtime because they are not great FT shooters. Go with Sulaiman and Tarke instead.

50 points in the 2nd half vs NE, now 93 today. Who are these guys and what have they done with the real TU team?😆

Starters only scored 25 points; May reverted, as I was afraid he would, but you can’t say enough about DWill and Tarke (can’t believe I just typed that 😆). DWill is an enigma; 5-32 shooting on the UNCW/C of C road trip, then there’s today. As good as Tarke was against NE, he was even better today. Is it fools gold, who knows, but let’s enjoy it while we can. Kudos also to Embeya with 13 points.

Huge early season home stand coming up. If we can get a W Thursday….
