mat1992 Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Dylan Williamson hit a three-pointer down the stretch and Caleb Embeya sunk three of four free throws to help lead the Tigers to a 65-60 win over Hofstra on Thursday night. The Tigers were down by 18 points at one point in the first half and cut the lead to nine at the half on a Messiah Jones steal al layup. https://towsontigers.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2024-25/hofstra/boxscore/28727 Quote
TigerNation Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Good comeback, this team is super confusing but they seem to know how to get a dub. Like others have mentioned they are winning games that usually don't go our way. Good win fellas! 2 Quote
Blazer49 Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Nice win on "national" tv last night. Stayed in the fight while Hofstra couldn't miss in the first half. Big shots and free throws down the stretch which we all have seen us not convert in the past. This team will continue to be a head scratcher and even though I bitch and moan about this program from time to time it always feels good to win. 2 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 Followed and what a finish… missed our box chat so followed Matt on Twitter. Foul Shooting pays off 👏 4-1 in the CAA.. keep it rolling. Enjoy the ride as this team just may have something 😉 1 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 PS- Amazing how much more confident Tarke and Jones are now.. fun to see them play under control and have success. Quote
Blounge Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 What a comeback! Great team win, it’s gonna take all 10 guys contributing positively to make it work. Hats off to a gritty win, dagger clutch 3 by Dylan, best game of Messiah Jones’ time here, Mekhi making big blocks, Tyler knocking down shots. Also hats off to Dr. Eigenbrot who was personally handing out free slices of pizza to students and fans at the game last light. Faculty and staff were treated to free tickets and a Jimmy’s famous seafood truck! Great win for the program to build off of 2 Quote
mat1992 Posted January 17 Author Report Posted January 17 Just to add. Nice crowd last night with 2,000 listed. Doing those $1 beers and hotdogs is imperative to draw decent crowds without the students. In fact, just keep doing something like that for every game. They had nothing to cheer about in the first half except at the end. PS was waving them on the in second half as if he was Wild Bill Hagy (old reference). Look, this team is odd. They have some talent and a bunch of nice guys. Nobody is really hyped, which can be good and bad, and I think they need that one guy who can get them going before the game. CT did that a little bit. I think Tejada is trying to be a leader but he ain't exactly hyped. It's a good thing late in games because most of these guys are poised down the stretch. DWill does love the moment even when he has almost no impact on the game early on. BTW, I thought the best play he made was that incredible pass to Tejada for a three late in the game, but was called for a change when Plotnikov stepped in as he was in the air. Good to see Jones make an impact. I know he's been struggling with injuries. If he can get back to last season or close to his Wofford days, that would help a lot because we're not going to get much production from there other bigs. Can't keep getting behind in these games. Go back to Williamson as the starter. Hicks didn't even play the second half and PS started DWill and Tarke. Keep Tarke on the bench. It's not a demotion. He's just playing better and more minutes in that role. As for No. 5, it's been rough other than the NE game and on this team, the individual who is playing better should get more minutes. The guy who is struggling, less minutes. If you are not shooting well, you can also help by rebounding, going to the basket and defending. When none of those goals are achieved, it's time to sit. TuTigers2012 Posted January 17 Report Posted January 17 New look to the board. Very nice. Nice comeback last night. We are typically on the other end of a 18 point blown lead, so it was nice to be on the other side for once. Coming out flat every game to start is a recipe for disaster. That first half may have been the worst defense half I've seen from this program in a decade or so. Hofstra was carving us up and every screen led to layup, dunk, or a wide open shot. Adjustments were made at halftime, and it showed. Tejada seems to be the only consistent player that we have that is capable of 10+ a night. Williamson, Tarke, May are hit or miss. Clutch free throws by Embeya. That was a good officiating crew for our style. Can we get them every Thursday game?? Momentum changer with the late steal and score by Jones at the buzzer. Is Pat allergic to running OOB sets? Honestly we have run some decent ones in the past and actually scored on them. Seems like we just chuck it deep to the outlet, without even running anything. Can the let down be avoided tomorrow? Should be a good crowd, but as we have seen before in the past, they overlook some of the teams with a "poor" record.. 1 Quote
