TigerFan54 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 In the coaches' poll, we only got 17 votes -- to rank No. 31. Nova drops to No. 14, but still pulls in 254 votes. (And Delaware, which lost to now-No. 23 Rhode Island, is ahead of us with 36 votes.) We did a little better in the STATS poll, coming in at No. 26, but still...Rhode Island was catapulted into the Top 25 by beating Delaware, but we beat a Top 10 team and get very little respect. mat1992 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 That's garbage. They probably had us about 100 and didn't want to move us in the top 20. Just have to keep winning. I think it took awhile for us to get in the polls when we started winning in 2011. Looking back, we beat Villanova, 31-10 at home on Sept. 10. We were not ranked when we beat Colgate two weeks later, 42-12. We were not ranked in our 28-3 loss at Maryland on Oct. 6 and then we beat No. 14 Richmond, 31-28. We were finally ranked on Oct. 15, 2011 when we won that improbable game over ODU, 39-35 but we were ranked 17th and they were 18th. As big as that win was, it certainly was improbable, I still think this one was a little more important because it got us back on track. Quote
TuTigers2012 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 LOL. We don't have name recognition like other programs do. I mean last week UNH was ranked about 28th at 0-2 with losses to Maine and Colgate. (they will still make the playoffs) And yes they didnt want to move us up. Fun fact, the last time nova gave up 40+ to an fcs team? Towson in 2012 Quote
mat1992 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 I think we physically manhandled Nova back in the 2011 and 2012. I'll never forget what they did to James Oboh in 2010 down 43-7. To a lesser extent in 2015. Saw some of that on Saturday with the hit from Yeedee and Robert Heyward. The offensive line play was pretty tough, especially with three guys playing on gimpy ankles in Cheripko, Rusolillo and Kauffman. Also saw a lot of broken tackles, especially on runs after the catch from Leatherbury. We rarely had YAC last season. That kid really improved his game, added strength to go with his speed and it showed. Quote
RundaPower Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 Total garbage. We played in the Natl Championship game 4 years ago! All these polls are filled with guys that buy each other lunch in order to get votes. The PL should not be getting any votes in the top 60 but the poll must throw them a bone to keep the voters from that conference happy. We CONTROL the future. Keep playing hard. Quote
mat1992 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 Here is the STATS FCS Poll and the Athlon's poll. We dropped to 122 in the Hero Sports Poll. I think RA has a little more motivation to use in two weeks. http://www.fcs.football/cfb/polls.asp?div=fcs https://athlonsports.com/college-football/fcs-rankings-power-poll-following-week-3-2018 https://herosports.com/fcs-football-rankings https://fcsinsider.com/news/2018/9/17/football-fcs-top-25-rankings-sept-17.aspx Quote
etiger Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 This is total crap. We just bat the Number 9/10 team and we cannot even get into a poll. The Hero poll has us at 122, We beat the Number 9./10 team and drop 63 spots. Absurd! Coaches poll has us at 31. behind teams that are 0-2 and 1-2. Just ridiculous. The whole thing is rigged. Watch UNH which is 0-3 make the playoffs. Rigged Quote
RundaPower Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 Absurd! Look, the CAA/FCS is afraid of Towson. The school is in a hotbed for recruiting and is a target for bounce back transfers. UNH, Maine, Albany, URI can’t provide the necessary resources to compete against for Natl championship year after year. Elon, Richmond , W&M and Nova have a different Academic profile. JMU , Delaware, Towson and Stony Brook are the ones that can carry the torch for the conference annually . Stony is not a full member and The old guard doesn’t want to let Towson in. Quote
TSU88 Posted September 17, 2018 Report Posted September 17, 2018 Galling, but the solution is simple...JUST WIN BABY!!! Quote
Chris Datres Posted September 18, 2018 Report Posted September 18, 2018 September polls are laughable. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in any of it. If they keep winning, people will notice. If they drop the next one against the Citadel, what will it matter anyway? So, no sense in getting bent out of shape right now. Quote
