Tyler Tejada scored 24 points on 8-of-14 from the field in 39 minutes to lead the Tigers over Loyola 67-56 on Monday night. It was an ugly first half where both teams shot poorly in the first half as the game was tied at the half 28-28.

But Towson, who went 0-for-4 from three-point land in the first half, made 3 of 7 in the second and hit 14-of-18 free throws to take the game by 11. Towson shot 43.9% from the field and held the Greyhounds to just 34% shooting and 4-of-22 from the three-point line

The Tigers outrebounded the Greyhounds 40-29 and committed just. 10 turnovers (nine assists). Dylan Williamson had a solid game with 14 points and five assists, with 3 turnovers. Jack Doumbia did not start, but started the second half and wound up with 13 points and 7 rebounds in 30 minutes.

"There's nerves, expectations. Excellent second half. Really guarded them. We fouled too much. Got the ball to Tyler and Dylan. Still figuring some things out," said Pat Skerry after the game on Monumental.

"We took care of the ball, defense looked good, Ndefo and Womack did some good things as a freshmen. Liked the second half. Threw us off with some zone stuff in the first half. Embeya is a key guy. Has to stay on the flor. Mor Seck did a nice job. Trying to figure out the rotation."

"Trying to find a rhythm. Started out slow," said Tyler Tejada after the game. "This one was for real. There were some nerves and once we settled down, we played our game".

Ok, we know what went wrong and right. Tyler Tejada=good. Dylan=pretty good but tentative early. Doumbia should have started the first half, but started the second. The rotation is not there. Schmidt has to play better. If he can't make shots, I don't know what they are going to do because Cole is not the answer either and Conway is an undersized 2.

This was a bad win. Lots of glaring issues. No way we make a run playing like this. I know it’s early but a few things that were red flags.

Interesting. I didn't see us winning by 30. Still didn't have a rotation set and was shocked we started Schmidt over Doumbia. Ndefo not really a great starter either. Womack is the four eventually but he's erratic on both ends. Took a terrible mid-range shot in the second half. Ndefo is the better defender and rebounder. Had five boards and a great block.

I'll say this. Ndefo whiffed that dunk earlier and then Tejada had him for an ally oop in the second half and Embeya clipped him. We were all out of sorts and Embeya's offense is just dreadful at times. I know PS loves him but Seck is a little more aggressive on offense.

Yeah, I get it. This doesn't look like a top team in the CAA. Same thing last season. We looked like dreck in November. We just have to keep getting better before conference play and win a few non-conference games against middies. We have to play a lot better than we did tonight, especially in the first half, to beat anybody decent.

I think, until guys like Womack, Schmid and whoever steps up, it's Tyler and Dylan's team with Doumbia contributing as a 3rd option.

It's also tough to dominate a team and win by 30 at our very slow pace, while shooting just 11 threes. Was I happy with this performance? Of course, not. I think we have big issues in the rotation and on the bench. That has to be figured out by conference play. I didn't think we'd miss Tarke and his terrible shot selection, but he was a force off the bench. Maybe Conway can turn into that gunner off the bench. He's just a shooter, unlike Tarke who could at least drive.

We were an 8.5-point favorite by the way so we covered for those who care.

The rotation is very confusing to me right now.

PG DWill, backup Doumbia

SG Doumbia? Schmidt? Conway? Cole?

SF Tejada, Doumbia

PF Ndefo, Womack/Coleman

C Embeya, Seck, Samb

Personally, I'm confused as hell right now about the rotation but I'd probably have Conway play minutes over Schmidt. Womack has to play over Coleman. Play through his mistakes. Coleman should only play small ball center over Samb. Doumbia needs to start every game. Doesn't matter the position. We need 8 or 9 players I'm not sure we have more than 6 or 7 solid players right now.

Well, a W is a W. Small sample size, but I was disappointed with Schmidt. I thought he would do well vs a team like Loyola, but that wasn’t the case. Disappointed that neither Conway or Cole (who didn’t even play) got a chance to show if they could hit some 3’s. I think it’s apparent we’re going to get very little offense from Sek and Embeya, but I guess we can live with that if they clean up the boards and block shots, as well as stay out of foul trouble, which remains to be seen if they can do. I saw some flashes from Womack; not so much with Ndefo, who somehow missed an uncontested dunk. Good to see Tejada, and, to a lesser extent, DWill, take over the game in the second half. I also think Doumbia has the potential to be the 3rd scorer. The potential downfall of this team could be struggling to score vs a zone defense and struggling against the press. Also, Samb and Coleman should only play in absolute emergencies or mop up time.

Well, on to H-Town, where points for us are going to be at a premium
