For all the people on here that attend games, what are you gripes/issues and suggestions from improvement?  Hopefully there are some staff within the department that read the board.

-Concessions are very slow. For the food and drinks already being prepared, the lines, even for games with minimal crowds get long. They have 1 POS at each of the 2 stands on the bench side, and then 1-2 other employees behind them, grabbing the food/drinks.  For weekend games and conference games, this needs to be improved.

1. Cupholders. This is a HUGE issue not just for me but looking around many others. Where am I supposed to hold my $1 beers!!!

2. I know the court layout being split between levels for audience seating might be the reason but the lighting is way too bright. Where is the theater lighting effect? It feels like they just turn all the lights on and point them at the entire lower bowl. Just hurts the eyes sometimes. Court lighting is fantastic, just wish the seating wasn’t getting hit with it as much as the players.

3. Change up the intermission events? Idk how you do this but maybe look around other venues at nearby schools and see what they are doing, I’ve been watching the shopping challenge for 3 years straight it feels like.

That’s all for me tbh. I usually get to the concessions stand a min before halftime or 15-20 min before tipoff and usually get my items within 5 minutes of queuing. Bathrooms are super clean for the most part. It’s honestly the cup holders for me, that’s my biggest issue.

Cup holders are available in the club seats! Nice leather chairs with cup holders are available (for a premium)

the SAFE staff reluctantly opened the doors at 6PM to let the line of people waiting out in the cold to come in. They should open 2 hours early with happy hour deals like the Orioles do to incentivize people to get there early and hang out.

Also the concession stands were gated up still at 6PM not prepared. Need more staff or a cashier with a mobile pos device working the line to keep it moving.

have frats play each other during half time if there is no other halftime show

Thanks I’m a season ticket holder, well aware. Plenty of other schools with similar capacity and arena size have cupholders for even their bleacher style pull out seating. Shouldn’t have to pay double in price to sit in worse seats (view wise) just to have somewhere to put my drink. And there’s a lot of people who agree with me. It’s silly to expect people in a cold state when your season takes place in the coldest months to hold their winter attire in their lap while balancing a bunch of drinks and food.

For the weekend games and bigger ones, that's a must. They sometimes have live music in the room behind the band, but its not advertised. Last night was apparently alumni night but no one knew.  Why not make that on a Saturday during break, open early, have the live music etc.

Yeah that is awful. The first game (part of the doubleheader), they were "open" as it was 40 minutes before men's tip. I go up and the lady says "we closed, got no food or drink"  As I was looking for a popcorn and water that were right behind them.  I get it's an annoying job, but come on.

Last night a manager went up to a stand at the under 4 timeout, while I was in line, and proceeded to ask the 2 employees (one register, one grabbing the items) if they were good.  He then proceeds to see the line behind me grow to about 15 deep and walks away. All this, while the poor guy in front of me ordered a large IPA, which was dropped by the runner, opened by the woman at the register, to which a large portion of the beer foams out. She then proceeded to ask him "i guess you'll want a different one?" 🤣

Idk. Order concessions every game, never had this type of issue. Don’t really think the way beer is handed out is the big issue here.

But it’s fine, I’m kind of at an impasse with these topics. It seems this board just cares about minuscule things like having the 20 people waiting outside coming in an hour earlier or “live music advertisement” being the major issue.

Apparently the solution is to spend more money to get something most other venues already have at our level.

Telling someone that the most expensive seats in the arena have cupholders is kind of ridiculous when it’s a common complaint every time I go to a game. Especially from this board and the people here.

P.s - it really seems like this thread was made just to diminish other people’s complaints and just vent about personal gripes.

1. Right, thanks for literally pointing out the issue that only premium seats have them. Most arenas include cup holders in regular seating because it improves the fan experience, reduces spills, and keeps people from constantly getting up. Saying they exist only in club seats doesn’t address my complaint; it actually proves the point that Towson’s general-admission seating is behind the standard. There are hundreds of fans local to Towson who wouldn't ever go to a game because of lack of cupholders. There's threads all over reddit of people complaining about the game day experience solely for that reason. It's really not that crazy to say cupholders make or break the experience for most people.

2. This is silly, you all act as if Towson operates like the Orioles. The Orioles operate a massive MLB stadium with millions in annual concession revenue. Towson Athletics doesn’t have anywhere near that scale, budget, or staffing. Looking at data, most college arenas at the CAA level open 60 minutes before tip, so SECU is actually doing what’s standard for NCAA mid-major programs. lol.

3. You’re talking about part-time student staff and weekend crews, something almost every school at this level deals with. This includes slow openings, especially early in the season as they have new staff every year, sometimes even every semester. It’s not some unique Towson failure, it’s just the reality of working with student staffing and limited gameday budgets. This literally happens in most places. Ever waited in line for a Terps game?

4. Going to guess that there are university liability rules, insurance requirements, etc. that makes this process a lot more complicated, especially when you aren't drawing more than 50% of the arena's capacity, is it really worth it if a student gets hurt etc.? For a big school like UMD or Penn State where a Frat can be the different of 200 students in the stands sure, but that wont happen at Towson.

What?? That’s not what I’m getting at. The inefficient and slow concessions are a major issue.

A cup holder really?! It’s December 4th not April first.   Most stadiums don’t have them, except in the expensive seats. 98% of college hoops don’t have them.

PS this thread was made for folks to share their thoughts and opinions on how to improve the Gameday experience. If you think that’s a cup holder… umm sure you do you.

People aren’t coming to games because of cup holders?!  Really??

SAFE isn’t a part time students. They are paid employees.   4 people wanding 2200 people in an hour +. Do the math.

Umm most other CAA open 90 minutes prior.
Your calling for the program to grow and get more butts in the seats but seem against ways to actually do it
