mat1992 Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=615179 Cruz Davis scored 32 points to lead Hofstra over Towson on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers, who were playing without Jack Doumbia due to an illness, hung in the game in the first half until the final media timeout when Davis and the Pride took over. They led 39-30 at the half and never looked back. Dylan Williamson and Tyler Tejada, still mired in a deep shooting slump, combined to go 2 for 16 in the first half. Towson drops to 0-4 in the CAA with the loss and Hofstra improves to 3-0. Tejada did make five field goals in the second half, winding up with 22 points. But Williamson continued his struggles, going 2 for 19 and did not have an assist. Tyler Coleman was the only Tiger who was productive with 16 points and five boards. Towson also continued their poor shooting, ending at 33% from the field and 7 of 20 from beyond the arc. Mor Seck played six minutes and fouled out. Tyler Schmidt played seven minutes and did not attempt a shot. Quote
sr16 Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Boys not having fun. Starting to think we should just schedule like uncw and stack wins. Tough ooc schedule doesn’t do anything for us 2 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 (edited) Fly to Boston tonight. Deep soul searching cause the schedule doesn’t getting any easier. Gonna be playing early in DC for sure. Coleman and Womack contributed today 👏 Jack with pneumonia so will he even make this trip!? Don’t know how we fix this ship 🚢 Edited January 8 by Bay Area Tiger Quote
TSU88 Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 (edited) Look, let’s be candid-this season is, barring a miracle, a lost cause. We’re trending towards the play in round of the conference tournament. Our “best” player today would have been the 4th best player on Hofstra. And don’t expect Doumbia back for the upcoming road trip. Best case scenario is the next home stand. Some “empty calorie” points from TT in the 2nd half, but he was dreadful in the first half. And #4 was dreadful the whole game. The only positive was Coleman. So, my modest proposal is let’s get this season over ASAP and then blow this mess up. Now we all know the biggest change that’s needed, but it’s not going to happen. Unless & until we get a new AD, Skerry is here to stay. His seat is not hot, it’s not even lukewarm. I would not resign 4, as he needs to take his dribbling skills elsewhere. I would attempt to resign #15, but I’m not paying him 300K like this year. Given his woeful shooting, he’s going to have to take a “home team discount” to return. I’d be ok with him testing the free agent market. If he can get a better deal, he should take it. I would strongly encourage Embeya to transfer, perhaps to a D2 school where he probably belongs. Then again, a competent D1 coaching staff might be able to unlock him. Either way, he’d be better off elsewhere. I would bring Womack back, though I’d like to see if he can do more than just hit the occasional 3. I’ll assume, given our current staffs evaluation skills, that Barton & Holmes are probably role players, at best. I will further assume he will redshirt 1 or more of the freshman coming in next . Frankly, the only 1 of them that excites me is the 2 guard from Philly, but I fear our current coaches will F his game up. I would then force Skerry’s staff to give up their roles in evaluating portal players white someone who actually has an eye for evaluating talent. Sylla, Schmidt, Sek (and I’m sure I’m missing others) should prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that this staff is incompetent when it comes to evaluating players in the portal. We desperately need a GM. Skerry had abundant resources at his disposal last offseason and squandered those resources on this abysmal team. I would next force Skerry to hire an assistant who can, you know, actually implement an offensive system that consists of more than dribbling for 25 seconds, jacking up a poor shot, and hoping for an offensive rebound. As for myself, it may be time to take a hard look in the mirror and ask if I want to continue throwing good money after bad, in terms of season tickets, NIL….Sad that it’s come to this.
