“In my mind I’m going to Carolina..  can’t you feel the winning streak..  can’t you smell the money our players take..”

That chat board was something today!!!  We were supposed to be 2-5 not 3-4!
Damn you players and coaches!  😃👍🐯🏀

Credit to the team and staff for not waiving the white flag when we were getting run out of the gym in the first half (our 11-9 lead turned into a 23-9 Drexel run to close the first half).

Kudos to Doumbia for making the defensive play of game, after which he knocked down the game winning FT’s. Kudos also to Womack. His shooting numbers weren’t impressive, but he hit the glass and had a key and one near the end of the game. By and large we still can’t throw a beach ball in the ocean. (Someone on the coaching staff needs to tell #15 to abandon the fadeaway jumper. His percentage on that shot must be about 10%, at best). Our two top returning scorers went a combined 11-30 and the low light of the game was the  tragic comedy of our 7 footer missing a dunk-he & Schmidt are practically unplayable).

Stats can really be misleading. Of the 10 Dragons who took shots, 7 of them shot 50% or better. Of the 9 Tigers who took shots, only Embeya (who’s starting to make some nice moves around the basket) shot at least 50%. Needless to say that the difference in the game was the number of trips we made to the foul line vs the very few foul shots for Drexel.

I keep thinking our putrid shooting isn’t sustainable, but maybe in a league where every team, except maybe UNCW.  is mid, we can scratch & claw our way to 10 wins, give or take, in the conference. Would love to sweep our upcoming 2 game road trip to Tobacco Road, but I don’t know how realistic that is-maybe a split.

Some of this shows you how bad this league is. No way Towson should have won this game, but Skerry said he was outcoached today and may have been for about 30 minutes. brought in Doumbia for Williamson down the stretch. That was a very good move considering how DWill and others were giving up layups and drives. The only problem was that once Jack blocked the first shot, he corralled the rebound and was fouled. Fortunately, he made both. Missed the front end with about 1.8 seconds left but thankfully they had to go the full court with a desperation pass to get the win.

Once again, this team continues to struggle shooting the ball, especially at home. They were at least better in the second half, but I thought we had a few in the first half that just rimmed out (not soft rims), but we also took some horrific shots and then there were the turnovers (Jack had 3).

To Dylan's credit, he took just five threes and dished out five assists. Could have had several more, but he decides to throw it in the corner to a wide-open Ndefo, who may be a Coleman one day. But can't make a three and I don't know if he's made a jumper outside of 5 feet. So it's just an odd team with the only shooters on the bench (Schmidt, Conway), who come in for a minute and get pulled when they miss a 3 or as Conway did, give up an easy basket.

Womack played 25 minutes and that's fine. He's extremely high-strung and nearly got a tech at the end of the half. But was +7. Ebmeya was +13 to lead the team but Seck was -12 and had just one rebound in 11 minutes.

I'm glad the crowd of just over 3,000 had something to cheer for late in the game because that first half, where we had 13 points for what seemed like years, was as bad as you can play on both ends of the floor.

Concur.  Sometimes, we just need to let the other team fall apart, for the rare change. Same issues, but a somewhat different result, has sunshine and rainbows.

A lot of the shots today were decent looks and or close. The problem remains finishing those. That is not a one guy thing, that is a program issue. Womack was aggressive and just didn't settle from deep.  Coleman again was crucial, had a few very good closeouts and contests late in the game.

I’m probably making a massive reach here, and I don’t think anyone would accuse me of being a homer, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s something askew with the rim we shoot on in the first half. Seems like multiple shots were practically all the way down, only to spin out. I dunno, either that or we’re just not good at making shots 🤷‍♂️
