Breakdancing after the win

See, that’s what I was thinking too. If I’m not mistaken, didn’t he have a cameo back in the 80’s in Electric Boogaloo II?

Cause our season is upside down right now..   3-4 and the stats make very little sense.  Caleb all of a sudden looks comfortable scoring inside.   Coleman is a key contributor.  Jack aka Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde doesn’t remember when he makes turnovers and knew he would makes his free throws.  Womack is an energy junkie.  DWill & TT are so up and down.
We could come back from Tobacco Road with a 5-4 record and playing a likely undefeated UNCW on national tv with Hawaiian 🌺 shirts in the dead of Winter 🥶 and likely shoot 50% for the game.
The basketball gods want it this way…  all upside down and all.

You certainly paint a topsy turvy tableau

I’m probably making a massive reach here, and I don’t think anyone would accuse me of being a homer, but I can’t help but wonder if there’s something askew with the rim we shoot on in the first half. Seems like multiple shots were practically all the way down, only to spin out. I dunno, either that or we’re just not good at making shots 🤷‍♂️

For said that before. It’s mind boggling how bad we shoot. Every team has a bad game or so. We can’t shoot straight

I forgot to throw him a bouquet. Any chance we can get another 4 years of eligibility for him?

And how many of those would he redshirt for? Kidding. He’s been crucial especially with the lack of other options. Does the little things to help win. Though I don’t think anyone including himself saw this stretch coming

I was happy to see we won this one. I ended up having to go somewhere when we were down 44-36, and it was a pleasant surprised to see we as the title appropriately state "stole" this one from Drexel.

This was our largest comeback of the year. I was trying to recall the last time we came back from down by as many as 17 to win a game. I am sure it has happened more than I think, but my mind immediately went to the Delaware game that we resumed at a later date after the wet court. When I looked that up we only trailed by as many as 13 in that game. Perhaps a research project for another time, unless someone knows the answer offhand or has it in front of them.

This year, Towson has won five times when trailing by eight points or more in a game, and we have double-digit comebacks against Norfolk State (down 10), Northeastern (down 12, 14-2) and Drexel (down 17, 30-13). We trailed 56-48 with 3:43 left, and show 4-7 FG and 4-5 to close out the game for the win.

It is truly remarkable that a team can shoot 32.8% (20-61) while the other shoots 52% (26-50) and still win a game. Obviously the 18-2 offensive rebound advantage which led to a 17-4 second-chance points is a big part of this. It probably could have been more second-chance points if we weren't 7-21 on layups (Drexel was 14-22 on layups). At least both Towson and Drexel realized threes weren't falling, and collectively shot an un-2025-26 like 28% of their shots from three.

I agree with what someone said when they asked is this an offensive funk or is that what we are. Right now in conference home games, we are shooting 79-248 (31.9%). The last two games that we have won, we have shot 41-123 (33.3%) and 8-42 from three (19.0%). We really can't keep winning at this rate.

Our three top players (although Coleman is asking to be included in this list with his recent play), were 12-40. There were a few positives from those guys. After scoring four points and going 1-8 collectively in the first half, Tejada and Williamson got close to getting back on track scoring 22 of Towson's 39 points on 9-22 collective shooting in the second half.

Williamson did go 2-5 from three, and has had eight assists and zero turnovers in the last two games. He has also gone 77 minutes and 54 seconds since his last turnover at the end of the Northeastern games. Tejada had a team-high 14 points, five rebounds and was a +6. It was also good to see Womack match a career-high three offensive boards, including a key one down the stretch. He was also 5-5 from the free throw line after coming in 14-25 (56%) for the year.

Coleman's double-figure streak ended and his recent field goal form dipped a little bit, but he is now averaging 13.3 ppg and 6.3 rpg the last four games. He leads the team with 54.1% field goals percentage and is shooting a team-high 43.8% (7-16) from three-point land. Coleman is a mere percentage points from being a 50 (54.1% FG)/40 (43.85 from 3)/90  (88% FT) player this season. Simpy unreal

Embeya had six points and seven rebounds (four of which came on the offensive glass). He is currently leading the CAA in offensive rebounds in conference play with 26 for an averaged of 3.7 rpg. Even more remarkably, he has made 11 of his last 12 free throws. Embeya was a game-high +13 today in 29 minutes (his second-highest total this season). It has been nice to see him stay out of foul trouble the last two games. Finally, good to see Doumbia Jr. come up a big play down the stretch and have six points and six boards in 18 minutes. I continue to want to see him play more, but I also realize the shot selection and turnovers can make that tough at times.

So here we stand at 3-4. We suffered our longest losing streak since the 2020-21 season to start the conference campaign, and have bounced back with three wins (ugly as two of them were).

We had a 10 and four-game winning streak in conference play last season, a five-game winning streak in 2023-24, a six-game streak in 2022-23, and seven and five-game winning streaks in 2021-22. This program knows how to navigate the conference season even when it has had rough starts, but I am also not sure we have endured this rough of an offensive stretch.

Two of our next three games are at Elon and home against UNCW, and if we don't raise the level offensively those will be losses. It does seem like guys are figuring out their roles a little better, and we are getting more from Embeya, Coleman and Doumbia Jr. Hopefully, Williamson and Tejada can build off a solid second-half today. It is still really hard to tell what level this team can reach in conference play right now, but it is nice to win three in a row.

This also brought back one of my favorite Towson basketball memories that is lost in the past. Back on February 23, 1995, Towson, led by Quintin Moody, rallied from down 25 to beat Winthrop 92-90. That is the largest Towson comeback victory I can remember. I know there have been others over the years, but that one still stands out to me.

The cycle continues. Enjoy!

We were supposed to be 2-5!  Now we head down North Carolina with some more confidence and a big man in Caleb who looks a lot more comfortable offensively and more importantly our chemistry looks and sounds stronger than ever.  PS says we will shoot better and I believe him!
