mat1992 Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=614848&vislive=tows Dylan Williamson scored 28 points, including 25 in the second half to lead Towson over Stony Brook 69-57 on Tuesday night. With the win, Towson ends the regular season at 9-9 in the CAA along with the Seawolves. But Towson has the tiebreaker so they get the 7th seed (17-14 overall) and will face Campbell or Hampton (depends on tiebreakers). Pat after the game "He was ridiculous. It was like Campbell on steroids. Mental toughness unbelievable. We showed the type of team we can be the rest of the way. +15 on the glass in the second half. Defense was great in the second half." "Jacquan had 16 and 8. Great offensive rebound and left-handed finish. I shortened it tonight. Attitudes on the bench were great. Plan is to try and keep it going from there. We looked like our team tonight." "They practice hard. Like each other. Sometimes as a coach, you're trying to push buttons to get some urgency out of them. Trying to get the edge. We play better when we have that edge to us. Trying to figure how to create that edge. Could be a dangerous team if we do that. For us, it's about playing our best basketball." 1 Quote
Bay Area Tiger Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 That was fun!!! 3 starters didn’t score but our core 4 of TT DWill JDJ & JW did!!!! Needed that result Quote
ShreddedOnion Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 Rest of CAA on notice. Don’t think there’s a more dangerous player than Dwill when he’s on. 1 1 Quote
mat1992 Posted March 4 Author Report Posted March 4 A rare road win to finish 3-9 on the road, but 17-14 overall. The problem with this team lately has been the starts. Did that against Delaware last season and we saw how that turned out. You can do that at home against Campbell and Elon or on the road against SB. But try that in the tournament and it's going to be 1-and-done or we'll get waxed in the next round by UNCW or Charleston Looks like Hampton will be the opponent on Saturday. As Pat said, formula is to limit the turnovers (9), rebound (+11) and defend. First half defense wasn't good, but they turned it up a notch in the second half holsding Pratt to 16 points and three turnovers. SB shot just 37.3% overall and 9 of 33 (27.3%) in the second half. Talk about no balance for Towson. Coleman was 0 for 5, Conway 0 for 2 and Seck 0 for 4. Three starters didn't score. TEjada played all 40 minutes and had just 11 points but took just 8 shots and one three-pointer. Had to be tired. Womack had a big game with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Had 6 wide open looks at the 3 and made 3 (two airballs). Doumbia his typical 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steals. Coleman had 2 of the team's six blocks. Been a crazy season. 1 Quote
mat1992 Posted March 4 Author Report Posted March 4 DWill can carry any team when he's hot. Again. "When he's hot". Which has been for, what, about 7 or 8 games and some halves this season? Tejada is more consistent but not as explosive save for that 33 point game. 1 Quote

It’s no wonder we get off to slow starts. Why not start your best 5 of TT, DWill, Doumbia, Womack and Embeya (who can’t score, but can rebound). I mean, the tournament is now upon us Quote

Let’s just hope this is the start of a more consistent hot streak. Quote

I mean, the tournament is now upon us Doumbia has been so clutch late in the game, he puts JD on the most athletic players usually and I would assume that can really wear you down. He was flying all over the court today, saved a lot of mistakes with his speed and reaction. Quote

Happy for all of you. Will need a few more Williamson games like that to have any chance in dc. If they didn’t throw away two against the HBCUs would be 4 seed and only have to play 3 games but I digress. 1 more win and we get that all important winning season!
