  1. While I don’t enjoy seeing anyone lose their job, especially when the person, seemingly, was working their dream job - but this is the right move.

I’ve been a season ticket holder for many years. I support football,Lax and Hoops. For me, our football program has been painful to watch. We need new energy, we need a new voice, we need a new start. We absolutely did nothing to capitalize on our good run in the T West days.

Good luck Rob….. I had tears in my eyes during the 2014 run- but it is time for change.

  2. Not sure if there’s anyone recruiting experts here.
There’s a kid that played at Wicomico High, Jayce Freeman, who is an absolute beast.

I saw him play two times against Stephen Decatur and he was by far the best player on the field. I just read that he got a full ride from Stony Brook. Just wondering if he was on our radar or not

I gotta agree….  he just doesn’t come off as a genuine guy in some of his interviews..  I don’t not like him but you can sense he’s tired of being questioned as the head coach post Covid and a change probably would be for the best.

I sometimes ask - “would I like to drink a beer with the guy?” The answer, for me, is NO.

If you’re not winning, at least be humble. He’s always seems extremely smug to me.

  4. While reflecting on yesterdays game, a game we very nearly gave away, and thinking about the program in general.

3 minutes of research shows this -- look at our conference record under RA.

    42-46 (.477) total

    23 - 41 (.360) without someone named West

14-34 (.292) without someone named West or Flacco.

    Hmmmmmmm

  5. I paid $5, if I recall correctly, to watch the game on the ODU website.  My kids had company at the house, and here's dear ol dad jumping up and down yelling "Holy $h!t".

I was at the game in Delaware (I guess it was 93) when we beat them. I don't remember the details, but I do remember that was an epic, back and forth game

Yeedee had some explosive runs, but that fumble cost us big time (plus, he fumbled again on the drive where we missed the FG; we recovered but the slow whistle and loose ball made huge difference, as it was second and 11 instead of second and 4). I didn't see what Gibbs did on the personal foul call on Elon's final drive; seemed to me like the whistle was late again. But here's one of the plays that's sticking in my craw: TF completes a long pass to an uncovered Rutkowski, who falls to the ground after leaping to make the catch; the thing is, Rut slowed down instead of making the catch in stride and scoring easily. Instead, we settle for a FG.

In the end, I think the offense relaxed once we went up 14-0  midway through the first quarter. We should have kept our foot on the throttle.

On the roughing play - I’m pretty convinced the whistle had not blown when we hit the QB.

  7. Obviously, a key is to get more students involved - there's been a number of comments about that  ….. but I've always thought they should be giving away a lot of tickets , to all games, throughout the community. Rec leagues, high schools, churches. scout troops, etc. Let the parents see what a great value TU sports can be, and hopefully cultivate some fans ….. young and old.

  8. After the loss to JMU last year, I remember now really being too upset because it seemed like a boys vs men situation. They were bigger and faster than we were. I doubt that has changed, so I guess we need to hope for some big plays, and win in the turnover and penalty departments

  9.  I honestly feel like that was one of the most lackadaisical efforts I have ever seen. It was a total waste of a beautiful afternoon from my perspective

Here I was shaking my head as all the students left after the same old same old band performance at half time. Now I realize they were the smart ones for leaving

Offense and defense we are both horrible.

A few things. I would say that the crowd would have been larger had Villanova brought more than 100 people. I also wonder if people turned around when they saw the traffic jam on Osler and TowsonTown. Also, looking through my binoculars at the parking lot, the students had a blast before the game and some during the game. I would say that number would have been close to 9,000 had they actually come into the stadium.

Traffic-wise it seems as though we're not suited for crowds over 5,000 people. I got out of the press conference 20 minutes later and there was still a slight traffic jam getting out so I went to the tailgate, where most people had left. Just wanted to avoid the traffic.

But overall, it's good to see the energy and the improvements of the crowd. Marketing has done a nice job. Wondering what people think can be improved in the game-day experience. Even though I'm in the press box, I'm not sure the music (metal and hard rock from the 70s) fits the clientele on the student-side. I think they played something from Black Sabbath (with RJD) and I'm thinking, I get that they are trying to blast that when the opponent has the ball, but what about when we . have the ball? Shouldn't we play something more modern that the students can get into (with a radio edit of course). Don't you want them to get pumped up?

Regarding traffic - turning into the stadium from Osler is an absolute trainwreck (a TU bus hit me there a few yrs ago). In some cases, I don't know if I can get into the general lot until I'm there. If its full, I need to bang a U-turn and head to the garage.

Regarding the music- I am a fan of the music because it does fit my demographic. (I'm 54) I've noticed the students seem to like most of the songs.

My gripe with the music is that they play a 10 second snippet between every single play - and it is too damned loud. I've brought a couple of older guys (older than me) to games, and the amount/volume of music was driving them crazy. Maybe play something on 3Rd down - but otherwise --- tone it down. I would love to just hear the sounds of the game, and the band. (Does any one else feel this way?)
