So because people can't pronounce the university's name, we shouldn't be good at hoops? Uh.. Part of the reason no one can pronounce the name correctly is because we are stuck playing crappy local teams that offer NOTHING to us.

CAA is not a high end mid major anymore... We are in the middle of the pack, not the tail end.  So we should be realistic and just accept the fact that 16 wins is our ceiling, with a coach who has been here a decade and makes a good sum of money??? SHEESH

So what would be your solution? I know that Skerry does a lot for the community and for Towson as a whole, along with turning the hoops program at Towson around COMPLETELY. Let’s just get another coach. Another coach who doesn’t care about Towson and uses us as a platform to a better opportunity. Maybe on the way up he can bring some 2 1/2 star recruits (as opposed to 2 stars) and win is an extra 4 games or so! Fair enough. To each his own I suppose.

Let’s return Towson to its former athletic glory. Gary Neal’s team had a good offensive system and some post season success, right?

  2. I can’t help feel like the expectations are somewhat high for people at Towson. Yes we are D1, and yes we have a chance at making the tourney. But I think we have to be realistic when it comes to Towson Basketball.

While the CAA is a higher end mid major. But we are on the low side of it. Meaning that all good players who come here are using us as trampolines to go power 5, or head cases that power 5s don’t want to deal with (see Benimon). People rarely pronounce “Towson” correctly, but you expect us to attract star recruits that have multifaceted games. If they could do that, they wouldn’t be at Towson.

Second off, do we need a coaching change? While we do need a change of pace offensively, you can’t deny that Skerry has a solid defensive gameplay night in and night out. However, his offensive scheme is atrocious. A change in offensive scheme, (More Princeton Offense, Launch and Board) is the only way Towson is going to be successful. Maybe try handing an assistant coach more of the offensive scheme? Do you guys think Skerry would take a demotion to an assistant coach that specializes in defense haha?

Yeah, I’m curious about Timberlake too. He played 9 games; we’re only going to play 32 games, realistically. If the rule is 20%, he could only RS if he played 6 or fewer games

I believe he can/did redshirt. I believe that the revised Redshirt rules allow for a 10 games played maximum, and he didn’t reach that.

  4. Talking to one of the managers, he said that Al has a torn labrum in his hip so I don’t know if he’s going to play. Even if he can go, He really shouldn’t. I mean if he gets any slower he’ll be standing still.

Demir is definitely a stud. To be honest, I don’t know who will guard him, especially in the post. Hopefully Skerry starts Solomon U, he may be the best bet, even with lack of experience.

Harper is also a very solid player. Averages around 16 on the season. However the way we guard opposing scorers, he’s going to have a career high tomorrow.

  5. Some insider info ahead of the game that I heard:

Timberlake out 3-5 weeks with a foot injury, although I didn’t hear what it was exactly. I’m assuming some type of fracture maybe?

Thomas was out of UMBC game because of a concussion but he should be back.

This isn’t insider info, but I didn’t see Drayton in any of the IG clips/story/photos they uploaded. Maybe his hand injury is worse than previously thought?

  6. It’s amazing how “fans” shit talk, excuse my language, young college kids instead of sticking by our players and coaches? If you think that they don’t see these comments, you’re insane. Ok, they aren’t the best basketball players or had a rough game, it happens. Their effort can’t be questioned, just their skill and it happens. It’s college basketball. But my heart goes out to these kids, especially Thomas and Mcneil sticking out these 4 years and being apart of a bunch of different causes and programs at Towson and in the community. Yes I’m disappointed, but you guys are ridiculous.

Appears to be injured. Was on the stationary bike when he wasn’t playing.

Talking to a friend with some inside info, says something is wrong with his knee. Should be sitting, but Lack of depth at position. At this point, I wonder if he should be playing any further with how slow he looks.
