MBB comes back (again) to beat Stony Brook 53-49
TuTigers2012 replied to mat1992's topic in Tiger Basketball
“It all fits”. What does? Honest assessment, this team doesn’t have the coaching and skills to put the ball in the bucket enough, 3/4 straight days. Hell we have all but given up running OOB sets (the time we did, got an easy alley oop) Regarding lowery, Geno really screwed up fouling him late.. the hack a lowery. However they thought it was 1 and 1 but already were in the double bonus. -

The was f’ing ugly. Not as bad of an offensive team as showed today but much closer to today than the 80 ppg. defense was pretty solid though stony is not good. Forced a lot of shot clock violations Burn the tape. Move on. Pray to whatever/whoever you believe in that they actually won. mascots put the ball in the hoop more than these two teams. -
Have you me the coach?? He is as superstitious as gets. That starting 5 and rotation will be in play until there is a loss. A few years back he would start Sylla and pull him quicker than a walk-on on senior day 🤣

It was a strange comeback, for about 5-6 minutes ~10 minutes left neither team wanted it or did much of anything. When we started making it close and got a few stops in a row, we came down and gave it to Samb around the elbow and he ran himself an isolation that led to a wild airball attempt from about 3 feet out. That I thought was going to be the end of the comeback. You do expel so much energy trying to get it even, that it usually drains you. Luckily we only took the lead with 1 minute left and not 3 or 4, in that regard. Disagree, by the rule, it was a charge. When guys leave their feet like that, it is almost always called. If's and but's. Unfortunately that will never happen.

New look to the board. Very nice. Nice comeback last night. We are typically on the other end of a 18 point blown lead, so it was nice to be on the other side for once. Coming out flat every game to start is a recipe for disaster. That first half may have been the worst defense half I've seen from this program in a decade or so. Hofstra was carving us up and every screen led to layup, dunk, or a wide open shot. Adjustments were made at halftime, and it showed. Tejada seems to be the only consistent player that we have that is capable of 10+ a night. Williamson, Tarke, May are hit or miss. Clutch free throws by Embeya. That was a good officiating crew for our style. Can we get them every Thursday game?? Momentum changer with the late steal and score by Jones at the buzzer. Is Pat allergic to running OOB sets? Honestly we have run some decent ones in the past and actually scored on them. Seems like we just chuck it deep to the outlet, without even running anything. Can the let down be avoided tomorrow? Should be a good crowd, but as we have seen before in the past, they overlook some of the teams with a "poor" record..

Pride are the most efficient defense in the CAA, and least efficient offense. Both teams are in the bottom 30 in terms of temp in the country. A very low possession type of game. Claxton will be back coaching for them, no word on their two missing starters

Not your fathers, scratch that, your Pride. One of the best defensive teams around, but their offense has taken a dip. 🪨🤬👊

So you had me thinking on this one. Off the top of my head, couldn't name one under Skerry, but do remember one (which I thought was the last time) from a very infamous date, 12/29/2010... against Lasalle.. also known as the last win before the 41 game streak... Looking back other times, we were close a few times, but the only other two times under Skerry were ironically enough against.... Drexel! Bonus points if you can guess the four scores. (those close games, were also against Drexel and most recently Hampton in 2023) -

They also had two other players out. Maybe we get lucky again with players being out?! Can wiggle our way to the top like the Ducks! Yes teacher! Fortunately he only shows his face after a win. I get that he doesn't have the cojones to show up after a loss. King 2012 however did not begin the feud, but since he is the bigger man, will take the high road. In between??!?! Did Bay Area hack your account 😅 -

Yes. We are on the upward caa part of the skerry cycle. There will be a quick drop, losing a game or two to bad teams, then a slight uptick again right before the tournament, that gives everyone some false sense of hope. Only to crash down in an epic collapse in March. Agree. Was shocked when I saw the box score and play by play. He has been dreadful this season so it’s gotta be a good feeling for him to have a very solid game for once. winning on the road is tough and even more so at the DAC. So yesterday was a very good win in that respect. Again, I really like this schedule that they have. Can they take advantage? The last two games scoring 76 and 80 are the outliers on the season. This team is closer to the 62 ppg team the first 14 games of the year than the close to 80 one. Though I feel we are more in the 67-69 point per game range. -
IS THIS THE YEAR?!?!? First year coach? Winning? Hmm...

May, Tarke lead MBB to second-half rally over Northeastern
TuTigers2012 replied to mat1992's topic in Tiger Basketball
Thankful that they got another game against a team missing their starters, 3 of them! Better to be lucky then good! May's best game as a tiger, rebounding passing and taking good shots. (Cutting baseline is an effective way to score, maybe Pat & co should try that more!) Tarke was solid too, but both remain enigmas. Here today gone for a month. I would bet he reverts to the 35%, 32% & 65% from the line guy that he has been. Let's not make this into a bigger deal than what it is. He's played 75+ games, much of a track record of what he is, which is a solid mid major bench/role player. It's Towson so you can't predict most games ahead as we will shit the bed twice or so against bottom feeders (Hampton) and steal one against a top team (UNCW), but if you look at the schedule, the CAA did us LOTS of favors this year. Schedule is favorable, but can we take advantage? DAC is a house of horrors for us. Cramped, bad lighting, hanging hoops. -
355 in adjusted tempo, 335* in scoring.

Would imagine NE not happy about that. The good teams are themselves, uncw, Charleston and Campbell .

Is this for baseball?

Skerry ball from the vols

Ding. They rarely miss tackles or assignments are very well coached and always in the right position (no matter who the coaches are).
-
Yeah right. We played them 5th closest in one of their wins! HANG THE BANNER! All joking aside the top 4-5 teams in MVFC and Big Sky are light years ahead of whatever the CAA is currently producing. Fun game to watch last night with a good 50-50 crowd.

Screen, hedge, defend! any eligibility left?

Bieku is still playing college hoops and closer to making the NCAA's than we are.,,
